Mid-Prairie Large Group Speech competes at state

Seven Mid-Prairie Large Group Speech teams competed Saturday, Feb. 7 at Clear Creek Amana High School for the Iowa High School Speech Association State Large Group Speech Contest. Six of the seven groups earned Division 1 ratings, and four of the seven groups that competed earned nominations to participate in the IHSSA Large Group All-State Festival at the Iowa State Center in Ames, Iowa, on Saturday, February 21. Only the top 5% of IHSSA performers from all over the state of Iowa earn All-State Nominations.
Receiving Division 1 ratings, and All-State Nominations, are:
Readers Theatre: The Price — Nominated to perform at the All-State Festival: Meredith Campbell, Ryann Dolan, Brock Lowenberg, Fiona McClellen, Stella Miller, Rebekah Rand, Lilly Redig, Addison Skelton, Parker Thomas, and Alastair Yeggy.
Musical Theatre: 9 to 5 — Nominated for Special Recognition at the All-State Festival — Jillian Clark, Ryann Dolan, Tabitha Fisher, Seth Groenewold, Wren Harris, Caroline Schrader, Parker Thomas, and Georgia White.
Ensemble Acting: Peril! — Nominated for Special Recognition at the All-State Festival — (written by Mid-Prairie alum Kyra Helmuth) — Tabitha Fisher, Greyson Ghumm, Seth Groenewold, Caroline Schrader, and Georgia White.
Group Improvisation: Nominated for Special Recognition at the All-State Festival — Jillian Clark, Brock Lowenberg and Greyson Ghumm.
Also receiving Division 1 ratings at State Contest were:
Ensemble Acting: Poof! — Wren Harris and Lilly Redig.
Short Film: Losing My Senses — Zoé Forbes and Maëlys Beachy.
Groups that earned a Division 2 rating are:
Group Improvisation: Gabriel Groff and Ben Trotta.
Mid-Prairie Speech Coaches are Christine Meader and Lisa Helmuth.
