The third quarter of the school year is over and the Richland report cards went out Wednesday. Those on the honor roll are: Eighth Grade, Twilla Keiser, Nathan VanDyke and Beverly Bott. Seventh Grade, Rhonda Hackert, Mary Sobaski, Marsha Neff and Judy Roth. Sixth Grade, Jim Harbison and Christine Allen.
Packwood Second Grade: Mark Williams brought candy bars to treat his class last Monday in honor of his birthday. Billy Salterberg was ill Monday and unable to be at school. Those who had perfect attendance the past nine weeks are: Danny Cary, Judy Caviness, Vicky Clark, Mark Kurtz, Vickie Muntz, Dudley Smith, John Snoddy, Steve Swanson, and Stanley VanBlaricome.
Richland Second Grade: Those people neither absent nor tardy during the first three quarters of this school year are Steven Hanan, Steven Kerber, Lewis Westercamp, Patty Chalupa, Mary Beth Parsons, Ruth Phillips, and Charlotte Spanier. Steven Hanan celebrated his birthday recently and treated the children to M & M's and balloons.
The WSCS will meet April 21. Hostesses will be Mrs. Raymond Wonderlich and Mrs. Martin Koch. The lesson leader will be Mrs. Gilbert Leathers. The devotions will be in charge of Mrs. Keith Nelson.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Byers and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wonderlich were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wonderlich.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Harvey and sons of Oskaloosa, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Brown and family of Batavia were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Brown.
A miscellaneous shower was held in the Baptist Church social rooms April 9 for Miss Julia Roop.
Raymond Fritchen, who had been a medical patient in the Keokuk County Hospital, has been released and is at the Pleasant Vallen Rest Home in Sigourney.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Horras and three children spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Joe Moeller of West Point.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sobaski, Raymond Steinbeck and Mrs. Oliver Leppert of Brighton visited Mr. Leppert in Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Mrs. Kenneth Nordyke was painfully injured Tuesday afternoon when putting a basket of frozen meat in her car in front of the D&K Locker. A long splinter was thrust clear through her leg from the basket. She was treated at Dr. TR Wolf’s office where seven stitches were placed on the outside and several on the inside of the wound.
Mrs. Dwight Westercamp suffered a deep gash just above the knee Wednesday morning while working at the D&K Locker. She was treated to Dr. TR Wolf’s office. Mrs. Westercamp’s sister came to assist at the locker.
Darrell Phillips, Jerry Adrian, Mel Maeder, and Hal Rusk were among those from this area who went for flood duty at Burlington Monday. They are members of the 34th National Guard at Fairfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Oswalt entertained at dinner Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Vic Oswalt, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Saunders of Brighton, Mr. and Mrs. Ty Cobb, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cobb, Mark and Angela.
