Three Richland Jaycees, Davis Eidahl, Harlan Van Voorst, and Orval Spence, will appear in KWWL’s Community Quiz Show. This show offers various civic organizations a chance to win money for their causes.
The Richland United Methodist Church will host a covered dish picnic May 4 to honor the confirmation class of nine students: Angela Cobb, Lori Robison, Nancy Niece, Ronnie Greeson, Dennis Blakely, Dwayne Blakely, Dan Snyder, John Snyder, and Lisa McCreery.
An explosion on the Harold Derby property in northeast Richland caused a loud boom and some minor property damage. An ammonia tank which had been buried during the demolition of a storage building exploded. Mrs. Derby had started a trash fire over the site, not realizing the ammonia bottles were there. Mrs. Derby, who had been throwing scraps on the fire not five minutes before, said, “I owe a debt of thanks to Floyd Smith and Lawrence Hadley who stopped by to visit with me some thirty feet away when it happened.”

Mrs. Iola Parsons visited Mrs. Eileen Spray, who is slowly recuperating from surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McCracken, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nordyke, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Neece, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Parsons, and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ritchie attended the Lions Club supper on Thursday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McCracken were in Oskaloosa on Friday and on the way home called on Albert Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Pearson in Fremont.
Saturday night, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nordyke hosted a family get-together of the Guy relatives in honor of Paul Hollingsworth, who had been in Germany for three years. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hollingsworth.
Joyce Dunbar, Alice Dickinson, and Virginia Brinton hosted a linen shower April 22 at the Dunbar home honoring Deb Conger of Ollie. She will become the bride of Joel Kephart, son of the Raymond Kepharts, on May 18. Special guests were mothers of the couple, Mrs. Delbert Conger of Ollie and Mrs. Kephart.

George A. Northup is spending a two-week leave with his parents, George and Vicki Northup and brother A.J. all of Ollie, and sister Brenda Garrison, Aimee and Zack of Fairfield. George is in the Air Force with his home base being Dover, Delaware.
Harold and Kate Schrader spent Friday through Sunday with George, Kitty, Whitney and Schuyler Snakenberg in Hastings, Nebraska. While there, they attended Whitney’s volleyball game.
Congratulations to April Gott for receiving a prize at the Hawkeye Science Fair in Des Moines. She received $50 and a calculator.
Congratulations to Jeremy Schultz on winning the Forester William Farris award and Community Forestry Council’s Outstanding Youth Project Award at the Fifth Annual Community Forestry Awards Luncheon April 11, for the planning and work done on the Memorial Park on Main Street in Ollie.

Michelle (Lucas) Woodson and Greg Talley wish to announce their upcoming marriage. A May 21 wedding is planned at the United Methodist Church in Richland. Michelle is currently working on her associate degree in business. She is employed at Thaddeus Computing in Fairfield. Greg is a truck driver for Hackert’s Wood Products in Richland, where he has been employed for the last 14 years. The couple will reside in Richland with their four children, Kirk, Shelbi, Linsey, and Jacqlyn.
Allen Reynolds of Ollie got a big surprise April 28. His daughters Silvia and Melody; granddaughters Selina and Kayla; great-grandchildren Austin and Hannah; came bringing pizza and a cake from Yummy’s. Allen enjoyed the party as he got to see relatives he hadn’t seen for several years.
