On June 25, 2000 the Richland United Methodist Church celebrated their new fellowship hall with a special consecration service and open house. The cornerstone, which is located on the northeast corner of the new addition, displays the dates of the construction of buildings in the church’s history. The church was established in Richland in 1847 in a small frame building somewhere in the northeast corner of town. In 1857 a brick building was built on the present location of the church, and in 1898 that building was torn down and a large wooden frame church was erected. In 1925 a fire destroyed the church and in 1926 the present sanctuary was built.
Buildings on the east side of the Richland Square recently underwent some changes. The whole new front was put on The End Zone, including new windows. The Lion’s Build-ing on the corner received a fresh coat of paint.
