Governor George A. Wilson gave audience to a group of men. They presented the case of blind Frank Bottger. Every assurance was given that effort will be made to locate Frank a job he is competent to fill. In case this can’t be done, Frank was encouraged that an allowance will be made or work supplied. Those who visited the governor were Ray Day, C. Ed Beman, Frank Bottger, and A.C. Roach.
Rex Horning, Parsons College junior from Richland, placed first in the broad jump as Parsons beat Wesleyan in the firs track meet of the season. While at Parsons, Rex has won two major letters in bas-ketball.
Adding a little humor, this article appeared in the April 27, 1939 issue of The Richland Clarion: Some time ago our mayor, Walt Nordyke, published a “chicken notice”, that all such should be kept penned. So far as we know, for sure, his fowls are the only ones seen on our streets. Walt will in all probability deny this and claim that these escapers belong to Mrs. Vandyke or Mike Euliss. Anyway, there is but one old hen running around loose, and she won’t be for very long. (it was unsigned.)
