Richland High School News
Jeanne’s Jumbles: School has been going almost a week now. Everybody seems to be getting back to the grind. Next Friday is initiation so freshmen be prepared!! From what I hear the seniors have a lot of nice (??) things planned.
What was Jim B. doing in Rubio Tuesday night? Seeing the show or a certain freshie girl?!?
I hear Ruth B., Carol H. and Luella P. had a wonderful time at the What Cheer fair. Was the fair the only attraction? By the way Luella, what’s this rumor I hear about you and a certain Gilbert White from Thornburgh?
It seems Myron Henry was awfully thirsty Thursday noon. I wonder why.
Ruth Bailey and Elizabeth A. seemed to have a swell time at the state fair. How about it Liz?
Junior K. and Donna Jean are still going steady good luck to you kids.
How did you spend your summer vacation:
Betty Greiner: I helped on the farm and had a good time.
Donnie Long: I stayed home and worked all summer.
Lois Hahn: Worked in the telephone office.
Jeanne Shultz: I worked up at the garage some, but I also had a good time doing other things.

Irene Hadley: I took care of children and before school started, I went to the State Fair.
Gene Langford: I worked on the farm and went to the fair.

7 and 8 Grades: Our enrollment has increased somewhat from what it has been the last few years. We have fifteen in the eighth grade and twelve in the seventh. In the seventh grade are Ruth Baker, Billie Cobb, Bobbie Curtis, Geraldine Fenton, Donald Fritchen, Joyce Fritchen, Mildred Hinshaw, Charles Jeffrey, Carol Morgan, Bob Schwackhamer, Arbadeller Weber, and Lee Pierce. In the eighth grade are Richard Bond, LaVerne Derby, Jackie Fenton, Jeanette Greiner, Catherine Hendrickson, Rita Hinshaw, Roy Johnson, Helen LaMar, Mary Leeper, Mary Miller, Martha Miller, Roberta Paxson, Lynne Steel, Max Talley, and Shirley Pierce.
On Tuesday the quiz team went to Des Moines to participate in the State Fair Quiz Derby. They had a pretty tough time trying to answer such questions as, “For what is Chamberlain known?” “What city is the center for the Passion Play?” Their total score was 138 points out of a possible 250. Members of the team were Lynne Steel, Rita Hinshaw, and Catherine Hendrickson.
