The smallest community to sponsor a cabin at the Lake Darling Youth Center so far is Ollie. Thirteen members of the Ollie Booster Club erected a cabin at the youth center on Wednesday, bringing the total number of cabins at the camp to eight. Not only is Ollie the smallest community but they undoubtedly hold the record for raising the required amount of money and constructing the cabin in the shortest period of time. Members of the Ollie Booster Club who were on hand to build the cabin were Guido Stempel, Francis Fye, Dudley Northup, Stanley Williams, J.L. Rhodes, Howard Horras, Russell Cavin, Bill Blake, Milford Wonderlich, George Cavin, John Williams, Harry Shy, and Jack Shriner.
Mrs. Raymond Dickinson of Rubio will succeed Mrs. Corwin Fritchen next year as a teacher in the Rubio school. Mrs. Fritchen has accepted a position as third grade teacher in the Ollie school. Mrs. Lawrence Brown has contracted to teach the Clay rural school east of Richland, succeeding Virginia Long. Mrs. Joe Reinier has accepted a position as teacher in the Brighton grade school.
Jerry Reynolds, age 8, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Reynolds, just east of Ollie, fell in front of a circular lawn mower at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kessel, Tuesday morning. His right arm was so severely injured that doctors found it necessary to amputate the arm just below the shoulder. The accident occurred at about 10 a.m. while the boy was at the home of his grandparents, who live on the adjoining farm. He was rushed to the Jefferson County Hospital by his father and two uncles, Harold and Howard Kessel. The father of the lad, and Father Paul C. Wetzstein donated blood for transfusions. Both the Reynolds and Kessel families are members of the Mother Cabrini parish of Richland. Jerry attends school at Ollie and was in the second grade during the term which just closed. There are three other children in the family, Sherry, Brent, and Steven.
Pfc. Kevin D. Hinshaw left May 17 for Fort Lewis, Washington after 34 days furlough with his family and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Hinshaw. They received word that he arrived in Fort Lewis on May 19. From there he will go to Okinawa.

Packwood Third Grade News — John Cox and Garry Dickey still have perfect attendance. However, the red measles have gotten a start in the third grade room. Cynthia Pepper and Steven Bennett were out with them last week. Debbie Muntz is ill at the present. Dixie Silvers and Martha Sasseen took the tuberculin skin tests. Both were non-reactors.
Packwood Fourth Grade News — David Cowguill celebrated a summer birthday on April 14. He passed out candy to the class. His mother visited classes during the afternoon. Janine Salterburg entertained several of the girls over the weekend with a bunk party. Deborah Dickey had written a letter to our president asking for a picture of his family. A beautiful large picture of his family arrived today, along with their autographs.
A prenuptial courtesy was held Friday evening in the Legion Hall for Judy Hoskins, who will be married later this month to Mel Maeder. There were approximately seventy guests present. Mrs. Kermit Hinshaw was chairman of the hostess committee. Wedding gowns were modeled dating from 1910 to present time. A wedding coat of 1889 was modeled by Mary Hoskins. The coat had belonged to the honoree’s great-grandmother. Konnie Ward, Jolene Weber, Sally Tharp, and Roberta Baker assisted the bride-to-be with her gifts. Emily Hinshaw registered the guests. Mrs. Chalmers Hoskins and Mrs. Velda Wallin of Fairfield, mothers of the young couple, presided at the tea table.
A class of 11 children made their first Holy Communion Sunday morning at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church at the 8 a.m. Mass. Bergthold. Parents of the members of the class were seated in the front of the church behind the class. Members of the class were Dennis Sobaski, Donna Neff, Vicki Clark, Gary Kessel, Andrew Adam, Bernard Weber, Debra and Denice Leppert, Diana Thomann, Cecilia Kessel and Linda Conger.
