2000
The newest business on Winfield’s main street is Winfield Market. Employees are Stacie Herrick, Cindy Beard, Jody Duttweiller, and Stacy Dickerson.
Vince Klopfenstein, member of Boy Scout Troop 321 of Winfield/Olds, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
Tim Edwards, General Manager of Prairie Ag Coop, has announced they have purchased the Terra facility in Winfield.
1995
Dr. Donald Westercamp, veterinary in Winfield since 1965, received the ‘Veterinarian of the Year’ award from the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association.
Billy R. Nordyke, WMU senior, has been selected as the Iowa High School Football Coaches Association Class A Player of the Year.
Eric Rawson of WMU was recognized as one of the finest basketball players in the country through his selection as a candidate for the 1995 McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball team.
1990
WMU High School could have as many as 60 new students when classes begin next fall after a preliminary registration was held at Morning Sun High School.
Chris Hecker has signed a letter of intent to attend Iowa Wesleyan College next fall and play football.
Susan Edgar and Jeff Adix are engaged and are planning a Mat 27 wedding.
1980
Eric Anderson and Terry Reynolds, WMU students, were given honorable mention in the SE Iowa All-Conference Boys’ Basketball team for 1979-1980 season.
1975
Main Street is takin a new look as blue steel siding is being placed on the Winfield Agri-Builder building.
The two-story house of Mrs. Francis McElhinney’s farm, east of the Washington-Louisa Counties line was completely destroyed by fire. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dunn and one-year-old daughter had moved their household goods into the house the day before but were not in the house at the time.
Members of the WMU High School cheerleading squad which tied for first place honors at the Iowa Wesleyan College Cheerleading Clinic were Mary Gipple, Cindy Jennings, Betty Klopfenstein, Vicki Venghaus, and Susan Busbee.
