2010
Winfield’s newest business, The Thrifty Vault, opened its doors Jan. 5, 2010. The owners, Dan and Beth Chrisinger, strive to bring quality merchandise to their customers at affordable prices. The inventory is made up of merchandise that Beth has either purchased at an auction or online, it has been donated by someone, or it has been consigned by someone. The business is located at 102 N. Locust St. in Winfield.
2005
After a year of fighting in Iraq, Sgt. Luke Messer is returning home to family and friends.
Adam and Casi Kephart are the parents of a son. Chase Maddox Kephart was born Jan. 31, 2005 at the Washington County Hospital.
Robert H. Stevens of Winfield celebrated his 80th birthday on March 10.

Mike and Sherry Honts, owners and directors of Honts Funeral Home celebrated 20 years of service to the community.
Mendy McCreight, WMU senior, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Iowa Wesleyan next fall.
Dust Nelson made his first trip to the state wrestling meet, while Shane Richardson went back for his second trip.

Alicia Ann Welch and Gary Duayne Hulme were married Dec. 31, 1994 at the Grace Bible Church in Naples, Florida.
Lillian Hesser, age 92, of Coppock, passed away Feb. 27, 1995 at the Washington Care Center.
1990
Amy Unkrich and Peter Philipp are engaged and are planning a June 16 wedding.
Robin Heitmeier and Kurt Sempf have announced their engagement and upcoming May 19 wedding.
Sara Klopfenstein and Timothy Tuschen have announced their engagement and upcoming May 5 wedding.
1985
An early morning fire Feb. 24 killed five lambs and 17 ewes at the Dr. BR Nordyke farm west of Winfield.
Michelle Ingwersen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Welch, was named a State of Iowa scholar for 1985.
1980
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walker of Mt. Union suffered a house fire on Feb. 27. The fire was started in a chair in the front room.
Dan Hanze, a senior at Drake University, will present a piano recital on March 14 at the IWC Chapel.
