2005
Ryan Buffington and Levon Mullen of Winfield have been invited to receive the 2004 Trophy Buck Print Award at the 30th Annual Eastern Iowa Sport Show at the UNI dome in Cedar Falls. This award recognizes trophy bucks taken in Iowa and registered with the DNR for the 2003-2004 deer hunting season.
Letha Cornwell of Arkansas, and formerly of Winfield, will be celebrating her 95th birthday on March 22.
2000
The WMU Jazz band placed first in the district competition, earning them a second straight trip to the Iowa Jazz Championships.
Theodore Anderson, age 93, died March 4, 2000, at the Henry County Health Center.
1995
Jim Klopfenstein was honored as one of 12 Rockwell Engineers of the Year.
The 1995 girls’ basketball team won their first round of state basketball play by defeating Bellevue, 49-43. Members of the team are Laci Palar, Allison Settles, Linda Lappe, Traci Johnson, Heidi Venghaus, Katie Sorrell, Jenny Anderson, and Heather Lauderdale.
1990
Brian Ingwersen was chosen by Winfield American Legion Post #643 to attend Boys’ State.
A surprise birthday coffee for Herman Wolf was held at the Coffee Cup on Olds.
1985
Jim Huston was selected to attend Boys State at Camp Dodge in Des Moines.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Piper are the proud parents of a new son. Joel Eric was born Feb. 26, 1985.
Mr. and Mrs. Myron Rees are the parents of a son, Adam Michael, born Feb. 27, 1985.
1980
Dean Owens is now selling machinery and other vehicles for Quad County 4WD and buying grain and selling fertilizer and chemicals for Yarmouth Feed and Grain.
Larry Haight has gone in to business for himself doing residential and farm wiring.

District Speech Contest winners from WMU were Charlene Grothe, Wayne Youngman, Janet Hillyard, Cindy Jennings, Susan Busbee, Donna Comstock, Ann Humphreys, Dorilys Cline, Cheryl Buster, Linda Knowles, and Sharla Haines.
