Trisha L. Phelps of Winfield has been chosen by Unit #643 of Winfield to attend the annual session of the Iowa American Legion Auxiliary Girls’ State in June 2005, at Iowa State University.
Talma Kilpatrick of Winfield celebrated her 90th birthday on March 26.
V. Ellen Hutchcroft, age 56, died March 12, 2005.

Bob Smith submitted his resignation as Councilman to the City of Winfield.
Four WMU students have art work hanging in the rotunda at the Iowa Capitol Building — Jason McArtor, Stacie Dunn, Chad Schneider, and Jess Settles.
1980
WMU sixth grade students Scott Tandy, Scott Larson, Robin Lauderdale and Gary Idle won fourth place in the AEA #16 Math Contest in Burlington. Larson placed third among 108 students in the individual contests.
1975
Winners in the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby were Mike Nelling, Scott White, Kriss Lindell, and Kevin Cline.
1970
Don Gipple, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Gipple, left the states Feb. 25, 1970, and is fighting in Vietnam where he landed March 3. He had been trained in tactics for the Mekong Delta and is in a fire detection control bunker.
1965
Dr. RB Widmer delivered triplet boys to Mr. and Mrs. Duane Barth of Morning Sun at the Henry County Memorial Hospital.
