Inducted into the National Honor Society at Winfield-Mt. Union were Hannah Mathews, Kayla Coberley, Brock Fricke, Kane Harris, Andry Hockenberry, Sophie Kongable, Ashley Kruse, Francesca Rappenecker, Kara Wade, Bryce Robison, Hayley Rodgers, Cary Stalder, Shelby Brown, Alyssa Carleton, Mitchell Niebuhr, and Michelle Madden.

2010

Danielle Dee Schultzman, Hiawatha, and Sean Michael Nelson, Winfield, would like to announce their engagement and upcoming May 22, 2010, wedding.

2005

Deb Blevins is planning to open a fitness center, Personal Form II, no later than June 1 in Winfield.

Abram J. Alan Edwards was born March 14, 2005 to Klay and Lesley Edwards of Winfield.

Christina Sarah Custer and Louis Allen Miksch have announced their engagement and upcoming July 23, 2005, wedding.

1995

Marjorie Carden was honored as a 50-year member of Chapter GT, PEO.

Dave Christensen was given the award as the 1995 Ambassador of the Year. Others nominated were Albert Schmidt, Irene Johnson, Jan Walter, and Walker Evans.

Steph Nordyke of Winfield is a member of the Iowa Wesleyan College softball team this spring.

1990

Winfield Benefited Fire District received word last week that their application from Farmers Home Administration for a loan of $60,000 to buy a new firetruck has been approved.

Grace Durham, age five, of rural Winfield, remains in serious condition at University Hospitals where she was taken after falling out of a moving car. Her grandmother, Elaine Travolta, Wapello, had stopped at a stop sign on Louisa County G-40 and was turning onto Hwy. 92 when the girl fell out of the passenger side door.

1985

Gary Crill was given the oath of office as a new council member. Crill takes the seat vacated by the resignation of Robert Smith.

Jackie Johnson has been selected to attend Girls State.

Henry County Deputy Sheriff Terry Wasson, of Winfield, has submitted his resignation to Sheriff Terry Morrow.

1980

Lucille Swartzendruber opened the Coffee Cup on Olds on April 8 in a new corner building built by Kenny Reschly.

The Corner Cupboard of Winfield was opening under the new management of Vera Boldt. Fran Schwartz will be the early morning cook.

1975

Cheryl Buster was chosen by Winfield Unit 643, American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State.

The Winfield fire department was called to the Mark McCreight residence at 209 N. Clark to extinguish a fire in the little red equipment barn on the west side of the house.

Mr. and Mrs. Allen Molander have returned from spending 12 days in Portugal.

1965

Donald Trabert was in poor condition at Burlington Hospital with severe neck injuries in a fall from Cascade Bridge at Burlington.
