Steph Nordyke of Winfield is a member of the Iowa Wesleyan College softball team this spring.

Winfield Benefited Fire District received word last week that their application from Farmers Home Administration for a loan of $60,000 to buy a new firetruck has been approved.
Grace Durham, age five, of rural Winfield, remains in serious condition at University Hospitals where she was taken after falling out of a moving car. Her grandmother, Elaine Travolta, Wapello, had stopped at a stop sign on Louisa County G-40 and was turning onto Hwy. 92 when the girl fell out of the passenger side door.
1985
Gary Crill was given the oath of office as a new council member. Crill takes the seat vacated by the resignation of Robert Smith.
Jackie Johnson has been selected to attend Girls State.
Henry County Deputy Sheriff Terry Wasson, of Winfield, has submitted his resignation to Sheriff Terry Morrow.
1980
Lucille Swartzendruber opened the Coffee Cup on Olds on April 8 in a new corner building built by Kenny Reschly.
The Corner Cupboard of Winfield was opening under the new management of Vera Boldt. Fran Schwartz will be the early morning cook.
1975
Cheryl Buster was chosen by Winfield Unit 643, American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State.
The Winfield fire department was called to the Mark McCreight residence at 209 N. Clark to extinguish a fire in the little red equipment barn on the west side of the house.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Molander have returned from spending 12 days in Portugal.
1965
Donald Trabert was in poor condition at Burlington Hospital with severe neck injuries in a fall from Cascade Bridge at Burlington.
