2015
Elaina Loyd was recently inducted into the Central College chapter of Phi Sigma Iota. This is an honor society for students of foreign language and linguistics. Loyd, the daughter of Keith and Sue Loyd of Winfield, will graduate with honors from Central College on May 1.
2005
Staff Sgt. Dan Halbur surprised Marion Alliman’s WMU third grade by stopping by to thank them for their support while he was in Iraq.
Brian and Denise Baldosier are the parents of a new baby daughter. Shelby Grace was born March 21, 2005.
Max and Lucile Gipple were pleasantly surprised by their children coming home to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.
The following students enjoyed lunch at Porks Restaurant as a reward for demonstrating ‘Trustworthiness’ in their classroom: Trey Newton, Sarah McCabe, Nathaniel Murphy, Kelsie Wade, Megan Escher, Hannah Mathews, and Katelyn McArtor.

Louise Lucile Lee Beaman died May 1, 2000, at her home in Winfield.
Brian and Traci (Coberley) Robertson are the proud parents of a new son. Noah Charles was born April 17, 2000. Grandparents are Doug and Ruth Coberley.
1995
Dr. Donald Westercamp, long time businessman and resident in Winfield, passed away at Henry County Health Center on May 1, 1995, after battling cancer for eight years.
Florence Beaman donated oxygen tanks with carts, a suction machine, cot, and blood pressure cuff to the Winfield Fire Department. It was her husband’s wish that after he passed, this equipment be given so someone else could use them.
Mary Kay and Kevin Rappenecker of Winfield had a son. Lucas Ewing was born April 20, 1995.
1990
Dr. James Evans of Illinois, professor of agricultural communications at the University of Illinois, was presented with the NAMA National Award for Agricultural Excellence. Dr. Evans is a 1950 graduate of Winfield and the son of Walker Evans of Winfield.
1985
1985 AEA 16 History Day winners going to State from WMU were Scott Longhurst, Jake Settles, Neal Hunger, Aric Sharp, and Brent Stineman.
1980
Kathy Krieger and Terry Reynolds were named the Athletes of the Year at the annual Lions Club-sponsored banquet on April 29.
Shari Allbaugh, WMU junior, shot a hole in one at the Twin Lakes Golf Course May 3 while playing with Tina Crill. Her score for the round was 47.
1970
Guy Leith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Leith, and a student at Iowa State University, was presented with a framed citation, ribbons, and medals before the Officer Candidate School, Ames. He had been released from the service but during his enlistment he served two tours of duty in Vietnam.
1965
A proposal to organize a recreational area near Winfield met with the approval of the group of 30 interested people who met at the community building May 4, 1965.
Bruce Royer arrived in San Francisco, May 4, 1965, from Vietnam.
1945
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lee of Olds have received word from the War Department that their son, Pvt. Robert Lee, was seriously wounded at Luzon on April 1.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fletcher have received word that their son, Robert J. was among American prisoners recently liberated by allied troops in their drive into Germany. He had been a German POW since January 30.
