2015
Thirty-four kids participated in the ‘building a bird house’ event led by Chase Boyer. Sally Naber, Charlie Phelps, Pastor Ed Spencer, Drake Mehaffey, Bruce Smith, and Collin Gerling also assisted the kids in putting their creations together. Winfield Builders Supply furnished the wood for the houses.
Karen Arnold of Winfield was named to the spring 2025 dean’s list at Mount Mercy University. Arnold is a student in the nursing area.
Alicia Escher, daughter of Larry and Patty Escher of Winfield, was named to the dean’s list at Simpson College.
2010
Dr. Reuben Widmer, former Winfield resident and medical doctor in the community from 1949-1972, was at the Twin Lakes Country Club on July 2, 2010 to reminisce and visit with the public.
Jordan Krueger was named to the dean’s list at Kirkwood Community College.
2005
A surprise card shower was held for Don and Marjorie (White) Ross for their 45th wedding anniversary.
Mary Pavsner celebrated her 90th birthday on June 26, 2005.
2000
The Winfield Library hosted an open house honoring Marianne White for her many years of service on the Library Board on June 27.
Mary Patterson, elementary school principal at WMU submitted her resignation to the Board at the June 12 meeting.
Randy and Roquel White Oldfield are the parents of a baby boy, Rhandyn John Oldfield, born June 1, 2000.
1995
Edward and Shirley Fowler celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary June 25, 1995.
Kathryn Lynn Hudson of Winfield and Matthew Daniel Mettenburg of Keokuk have announced their engagement and upcoming wedding on August 12.
Ezra John Graber was born to Sid and Dyann Graber on May 25, 1995.
Tom and Kim Lampe are the parents of a daughter, Paige Elizabeth, born June 14, 1995.
1990
Brandon Prior, age eight, sprained his neck muscles in an accident at the Winfield Area Recreation Center swimming pool. He was diving off the board into an inner tube and missed the center, hitting his chin and bending his neck.
1985
The old Cudahy Packing company plant at the end of East Elm Street in Winfield fell to the wrecker’s ball recently. The property has been purchased by Schmidt Construction Company of Winfield.
1980
Terri Smith, Ann Koehler, Dorothy Dorman, and Maureen Dorman were among the 600 students attending the annual All-State Music Camp at the University of Iowa.
Rick Buffington was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after the horse he was riding reared and went over backward, falling on him.
