1998
•The Washington Municipal Band will present a concert at Sunrise Terrace Care Center on Thursday, July 16.
•Keith and Barb Briggs, Ransom and Laura spent Wednesday, July 1, at the Robert Briggs home. Ransom will soon be leaving on a 16 day wildlife search in Wisconsin for college freshmen.
•The family of Phil Marshall came for the holidays to an early celebration for Phil’s 90th birthday.
•A group of neighbors and family came to the Roland and Betty Underwood farm on July 1 to help clean up the debris from a severe windstorm on June 29.
•Keith and Mary Crawford are housing a robin and her babies in a hanging basket on their front porch. The beautiful flowers that once lived in the basket are now dead, thanks to the robins. At last report, the robin and babies were doing nicely.
2003
•Jan D. Walter, CMC, City Clerk of Winfield, has been accepted into the First Level Membership of the IIMC Master Municipal Clerk Academy.
•The Southeast Iowa Blood Center drew 41 units at the Winfield Fire and Rescue-sponsored blood drive. Cindy Zuspann attained the one-gallon plateau; Dorothy Neil and Marvin Lambert attained the six-gallon plateau.
•The joint Winfield Bible School students will present a program on July 18 at the Presbyterian Church.
•The Winfield-Mt. Union Board of Education will meet in joint session with New London Board on July 21. Future sharing arrangements and the superintendent evaluation will be discussed.
•Two bicyclists, on their way across Iowa to Join RAGBRAI, found their way into Winfield midafternoon Monday in search of food, only to find they were too late for tenderloins and too early for pizza.
2008
•Three Burlington residents were arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine early Wednesday morning north of Winfield.
•Foreign exchange student Karin Ekster and her family visited Winfield July 4-5. She was an exchange student in the 1983-84 school year and stayed with the Westercamp family. She is from the Netherlands.
•Bob and Margaret Perrenoud, Mark and Gwyn McCreight, Alan and Alice Trees, and Myron and Tana Jennings went to Alaska in June with the Heritage Club of Pilot Grove Savings Bank.
•Don and Norma Helphrey of Mt. Union celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house.
•Sunrise Terrace Care Center will be hosting an ice cream social on July 13.
2013
•The Youth Fellowship of the United Church of Crawfordsville will be going to Sunrise Terrace Nursing Home in Winfield to held the worship service on Wednesday, July 10.
•Eugene Raymond Baker, age 88, of Winfield, died Saturday, July 6 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center.
•The Church Mice Quilt and Sewing club of Winfield invite all ladies and gentlemen in the area to bring their latest quilts and needlework to display at the United Methodist Church in Winfield during Crooked Creek Days.
•Cheyanne Haynes, daughter of Brenda Grelk, is competing in the 2013 Henry County Fair queen contest.
•The Winfield-Mt. Union baseball team lost to Danville on July 3 in a close game, 2-1. WMU tied in the third when Darren hunter tripled and Kyle Davis hit a sacrifice fly to get Hunter across the plate.
