1993
•Johenry Mast has taken out papers and announced he will be seeking re-election for the office of mayor in the fall election. He has served as mayor since 1985.
•Jan and Dean Rodgers recently showed their mare, Princess Gold Silk, at the International Pony of the Americans Show in Detroit, Michigan, where she won brood mare class. In June, Silk was named World Champion brood mare at the POA World Championship show held in Waterloo.
•Mr. and Mrs. Mark McCreight will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a family trip to the Wisconsin Dells. They were married Aug. 29, 1953 at the Winfield United Methodist Church.
1998
• Barbara Long has been hired at the Winfield Post Office as a substitute on Rural Route 2.
•Bob Logan will be saying goodbye to the business community in Winfield on Saturday, Aug. 29, as he closes his doors for the last time. Four generations of Logans have been involved in Logan Oil Company in one way or another.
•Evelyn and Nancy Pounds, Winfield, and Sid and Diana Pounds, Ames, attended the White Coat Ceremony at Hancher Auditorium in Iowa City. Sydney Pounds, daughter of Sid and Diana, was one of the students receiving the white coat.
2003
•SPC Robert Genkinger has been named Soldier of the Week. He is currently serving with the U.S. Army in Iraq. Genkinger is the son of Sheri Genkinger.
•Rebecca Chaplin is on a missionary trip to Peru. She will share her missionary trip at the morning service on September 7 at the Winfield Presbyterian Church.
•Karl Hester has announced that he has withdrawn as a candidate for the Winfield-Mt. Union School Board election. Robin Therme announced that she is a write-in candidate, and Keith Loyd has announced that he is a write-in candidate.
2008
•Rich Lauderdale became eligible for the Hole-In-One Club at Twin Lakes Country Club in Winfield.
•Ivan and Marilyn Owens celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a 14-day Alaskan cruise. Marilyn Meeker and Ivan Owens were married Sept. 6, 1958.
2013
•Norm and Jan Walter will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 7, 2013. Norm Walter and Jan Hochstein were married at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bow Valley, Nebraska.
•Graduating from Southeastern Community College from Winfield were Grant Edwards, Welding AAS, and Shane Tilton, Auto Mechanics Diploma.
•Donald L. Hills, 84, of Winfield died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.
