Out of Winfield’s Past

•Twenty-two years of dedicated service to John Deere will come to an end when Pauline Payne, bookkeeper at Winfield Implement retires September 3.

•New teachers at Winfield-Mt. Union are Sharon D’Angelo, Linda Hutchcroft, Jeff Wrede, and Jeff Batty.

•Bernadine Larson, and Dick and Mary Larson, drove to Tipton, Indiana on August 6 to attend the wedding of her granddaughter, Peg Larson to Rob Williams. Peg is the daughter of Larry and Sharon Larson.

1998

•The Donald Dean Ross family was presented with a Century Farm Award at the Iowa State Fair on August 18.

•Mindy Mabeus, Caitlin Welsch, Maranda Connop, Kinsey Olson, Aimee Haines and Billi Jo Christner, all of Winfield, are contestants in the Old Threshers Reunion’s “Sweet 16” contest.

•Lora LoBiarico, daughter of Edward and Charlene Seggerman, along with her husband Steven, has spent the last three years teaching in Saudi Arabia, visited her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hamilton last week. Lora and Steven will be teaching in Japan for the next two years.

•David and Jan Good took heir granddaughter, Alex Mullen, to Marshfield, Massachusetts, to visit at the home of Bob and Deborah Habel.

2008

•The United States Achievement Academy announced that Ray Fear from Winfield has been recognized by the Academy as a student of excellence in History and Government.

•Family and friends were invited to help Bob Connop celebrate his 80th birthday with a party on Sept. 13 at the Winfield Veterans Building.

•Walt and Shirl Hatton will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 10, 2008.

•Verena Buffington passed away Aug. 29, 2013. She was born Sept. 21, 1914 in Morning Sun.
