Out of Winfield’s Past

•Florence Watson drove to Camp Point, Illinois on Aug. 27 to visit with her niece, Madeline Recker.

•Houseguests of Floyd Foster over Labor Day weekend were Jack and Jackie Alfredson, Mark and Pat Meuwissen, Connie Foster and Jake Jacobson.

•Mary Marie Youngman returned home from a two-week visit with her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Williams in Oregon, and her granddaughter, Cheryl and Berry Wade, and great-granddaughters Sydney and Chelsea.

1998

•Three WMU football players missed their first game of the season as they suffered injuries in an accident Sept. 3. Nathan Carlson, Cody Malone, and Aaron Keiser were the three injured.

•Leona Bennett spent Sunday with her granddaughter, LuAnn Olson and family of Gulfport, Illinois and helped her granddaughter, Amanda Knottnerus celebrate her 11th birthday.

•Lee Cornwell returned home from Veterans Hospital in Iowa City Tuesday.

2003

•Bob and Margaret Perrenoud hosted a cookout in honor of Trei Fuller. Attending were Janet Perrenoud, Violet Perrenoud and friend Fran, Mary Pavsner, Sharon and Tim Chaplin, Richard and Jan Perrenoud, and Tim and Ashley Fuller and Alcia and Trei.

•Albert Schmidt is recuperating at Sunrise Terrace. He plans to have more surgery soon.

•Bob and Cindy Morse visited in Rochester, Minnesota with Amy and Craig Sears and daughter Payton.

2008

•On Aug. 16 Ellie Brooks hit a hole-in-one at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Winfield. Her husband Jim, and grandchildren Heidi Klein, Allison Klein, and Jacob Brooks were among those in the group to help her celebrate.

•Grasshorse Technologies, Inc has been awarded a Demonstration Fund grant of $147,833 from the Economic Development Board of the Iowa Department of Economic Development.

2013

•Mildred Evelyn Kirk, 94, died Sept. 9, 2013 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.

•Richard Drake, age 90, died Sept. 5, 2013 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.
