Out of Winfield’s Past

•Three people have filed papers for the two available Winfield City Council seats — Russell Allbaugh, Larry Jennings, and Tom Hunt.

•Mindi Whittemore and Jeff Allbaugh were married at the First Christian Church in Burlington. Jeff is the son of Russ and Carol Allbaugh of Winfield.

•Visiting with R.L. and Lillian Chrisinger on Monday were her cousins, Doris and Robert Lucas of Pamero, California.

1998

•Betty and Roland Underwood hosted Marsh Club with a dinner gathering at Crill’s.

•Ron and Jan Crawford spent a couple weekends with Lois Crawford in her home.

•Tony and Sandra Daragen, Dublin, Ireland, came Sept. 2 to the home of John and Doris Carty for a visit. John and Margaret Livesley, Hitchen Hearts, England, arrived at the Carty home Sept. 13 and will be here until the 28th.

2003

•Descendants of Paul and Mary Paisley and their families spent the Labor Day weekend in Winfield.

•Wyatt Peterson recently passed the Iowa State Bar Exam and was sworn in as a member of the Iowa Bar on Sept. 15, 2003.

•Alyson Gerling is completing her Iowa Wesleyan College student teaching requirements this fall at Mt. Pleasant Middle School and Winfield-Mt. Union Junior and Senior High School.

2008

•Winfield and the surrounding area received over seven inches of rain during the night of Sept. 12 and all day Sept. 13.

•Brian and Kelly Anderson are the parents of a daughter, Beatrice Louise. Grandparents are Larry and Sharon Jennings of Winfield, and Denny and Jan Anderson of Olds.

•Former Winfield area athlete, Tyson Unkrich, is a member of the football team at Simpson College.

2013

•Donald H. Hills, 84, of Winfield died Aug. 22, 2013 at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center.

•Les Miles will present a special program and share his experiences in Cambodia at the Winfield United Methodist Church.

•Dorothy M. Van Dyke, 96, formerly of Winfield, died Sept. 15, 2013 in Cedar Falls, where she had resided since 2004.
