1993
•Five candidates have filed papers for three open council seats on the Winfield City Council. Russ Allbaugh, Gary Crill, Larry Jennings, Terry Hunt, and Steve Braudt.
•Chuck Hulke, son of Laura Johnson, is a defensive lineman for the Wartburg Knights 1993 football team.
•Charles and Dorothy VanDyke attended a reunion of the U.S.S. Kenton APA-122 personnel at St. Louis Sept. 16 through 19.
•Lloyd and Clara Widmer have been dismissed from the hospital and are now residing in Sunrise Terrace Care Center.
1998
•Work continues at the Winfield City Park as forms are laid out in preparation for concrete to be poured for the “walk around the park.”
•Anisha Hesseltine, Winfield, and Daniel Davis, Burlington, announce their engagement and approaching marriage.
•Wilna Meeker spent the weekend at the Tony Rechkemer home in North Liberty. Tony was on a fishing trip to Canada. Barbara and Wilna enjoyed a musical at Hancher Auditorium in Iowa City.
2003
•Frances Schwartz will be celebrating her 80th birthday with an open house hosted by her children.
•Adwin Hesseltine volunteered with the Open Bible Central Region Youth Camps in Ogden. He is a senior majoring in history at Iowa Wesleyan College.
•On Sept. 16, two sister who have lived in Winfield all their lives shared their thirthday at a celebration at Sunrise Terrace. Nelle (Hess) Lindell, who was 102, and Ollie (Hess) Allen, who was 93, had a happy day.
2008
•Rev. James Edwards, age 77, of Winfield, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 at his home in Winfield.
•Winfield Homecoming Royalty are Karprice Carlson, Kendalyn Davolt, Morgan Nicholson, Hope Liles, Sarah Roller, Emery Davis, Jake Tolander, RJ Shoultz, Cory Reyolds, and Gaige Gill.
•Kevin Mullen retired from the Winfield Fire Department. He served on the department from 1977 to 2008.
2013
•Gladys Esther Davis, 77, of Winfield, died Sept. 21, 2013 at her home in rural Winfield.
•Robin Therme and Joy Sparrow were sworn in as Winfield-Mt. Union school board members on September 18.
