1993
•Winfield residents met their goal Oct. 21 when the “Jaws for Life” arrived at the fire department. Five Winfield firemen will receive initial training on the operation of the tool.
•A community committee has been working on a comprehensive housing vision for the City of Winfield. The committee will develop a vision that responds to low income and middle income housing concerns.
•The Henry County Sheriff’s office received a telephone report on Oct. 24 at Troy A Luce-Brown, 32, rural Winfield, had driven into a ditch near Swedesburg and had been taken to the Health Center by private vehicle.
1998
•Jean L. Goff, age 77, of Winfield, died Oct. 28, 1998, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.
•Marilyn J. Mann, age 51, of Winfield, died Oct. 28, 1998, at the University Hospital in Iowa City.
•Tony and Marcy Canby announce the arrival of a son, Patrick James, on Oct. 18, 1998. He was welcomed home by 20-month-old brother, Benjamin.
2003
•Jerry Steele and his sister, Judy Mote, have a new business, SWD Consignments.
•John Siegel has been hired as the head wrestling coach for Winfield-Mt. Union.
•Glen Seberg, of Olds, celebrated his 80th birthday on Oct. 4, 2003.
2008
•Jon Gerling and Glen Morgan will be representing Winfield-Mt. Union in the state cross country meet. This will be Gerling’s third and final trip to the state meet.
•Winfield area veterans will meet Tuesday, November 11. The meeting will begin with a potluck supper.
•Winfield-Mt. Union defeated Danville 52-0 in football. Dillon Price averaged 40 yards per carry, while Derek Dedic averaged 24 and Jacob Tolander 21.2.
2013
•The Crawfordsville Community Club is sponsoring “The Haunted Hall” at the Crawfordsville Legion Hall Kid’s Nite, October 31.
•Winfield-Mt. Union football team defeated New London 38-26. Max Fricke scored two touchdowns and passed for two more. WMU finished the season 3-6.
•Winfield United Methodist Church will be hosting a turkey supper on Wednesday, November 13.
