1993
•Mrs. Beulah V. Neil will celebrate her 95th birthday on Nov. 23, 1993.
•Dallas and Kay (Rees) Davis are the proud parents of a son, Skyler Bryn, born October 16, 1993.
•Jimmie L. McSorley, 61, of Winfield, died Nov. 1 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.
•Barbara Owens Bedgood and Michael Wayne Peeler announced their engagement and approaching marriage.
1998
•Billy Nordyke, M.D., a family physician from Winfield, was honored for 30 years of membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians.
•Cecil W. Linder was presented his 50-year Masonic Lodge Lapel Pin on Oct. 20, 1998.
•Dean and Ruth Gipple celebrated their 60th anniversary on November 24.
2003
•The Winfield Fire Department was one of four to receive a grant of $110,000 from the US Department of homeland Security to increase the effectiveness of fire operations and to support firefighter security.
•Brian Haymond donated his hair to “Locks of Love.”
•Julie Marie Thompson and Jeremy Paul Hunold announced their engagement and upcoming Dec. 6 wedding.
•Running for mayor in the city election was Larry Jennings. Those running for councilmen were Jim Bryant, Andy R. Zuspann, William David Good, and Todd Spence.
2008
•The City of Winfield hosted its annual Halloween Weiner Roast Oct. 31, 2008. 1296 hot dogs were consumed, together with seven canisters of pop and eight bags of marshmallows.
•The Winfield and surrounding area Women of Faith are sponsoring a soup luncheon fundraiser on Nov. 16 at the Winfield United Methodist Church.
•Roland Orris Underwood, age 86, of Winfield, died Oct. 30, 2008 at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center.
2013
•Winfield-HCI Hospice Care Services honored one of its patients, Russel Cline, a Korean War Veteran and Purple Heart recipient, with a Veteran pinning ceremony at his home in Winfield on Oct. 24.
•The Winfield United Methodist Church is busy cooking up another tasty turkey supper to be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013.
•All area veterans are invited by the Winfield American Legion Post #643 and Auxiliary to a potluck supper on Nov. 11 at the Winfield Veterans Building.
