1993
•The WMU football team advanced to the semifinals by defeating Martensdale-St. Mary’s 50-0.
•Carrie Steele ran in the state cros country meet, placing 68th out of 98 girls in the 2A race.
•Melvin D. Crist, age 82, passed away at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.
1998
•Linda Lappe, former WMU standout, is now playing basketball for the University of Colorado at Boulder.
•Lucile Wycoff Huston, age 94, of Winfield, died Nov. 11, 1998, at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center.
•Amanda Haight and John Rhomberg were united in marriage on Oct. 10, 1998.
2003
•Allyson Carlson, daughter of Jim and Colleen Carlson, was elected to the 2003 Simpson College Homecoming Court. She is a sophomore at Simpson.
•Robert Edward “Bob” Jomes, age 74, of Winfield, died Oct. 21 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center.
•Amanda Hansen and Justin Fletcher have announced their engagement and upcoming April 17, 2004 wedding.
2008
•A single vehicle accident was reported on Highway 78 outside of Winfield. Rebecca Dunn of Winfield reported she fell asleep causin her 1994 Toyota to go into the ditch where it struck a utility pole. The vehicle was totaled.
•Doris Peterson will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house on Nov. 16.
•Kaelyn Raquel Fritcher, daughter of Steven and Lori Fritcher of Winfield, was born Sept. 5, 2008.
2013
•Kathy Nelson was appointed to fill the vacant city council position.
•Lowell Sterling Kongable will be celebrating his 90th birthday on Nov. 20. He would enjoy hearing from friends from the Winfield area.
•Carol Waterman is the new Vice President at Pilot Grove Savings Bank in Winfield.
