•The Winfield Fire Department was called to the Rev. James Edwards residence on Dec. 1 to extinguish a fire burning in the garage.
•Adam and Theresa Smith of Ankeny became parents of twin girls, Katherine Ann and Abbigail Lynn, on Nov. 22.
•Bailey Nicole Johnson was born Dec. 1, 1993 to Rick and Toby Johnson on Ankeny.
1998
•The father-daughter duo of Jeff and Katie Carty performed at the Sunday school program at the Winfield Presbyterian Church.
•Harold D. Olson, age 73, of rural Winfield, died Dec. 11, 1998 at his home.
•Dec. 10, 1998, Gary and Mary Grelk’s new house was moved to its new foundation on West Central Street.
2003
•Dr. Billy and Georgette Nordyke announced they will be fully retiring effective Dec. 18, 2003.
•Glen and Angie Woodsmall of Tiffin are the parents of twin boys, Daymon Allen and Devon Robert, born Nov. 23, 2003.
•Teresa Shutt and Michael McAllister were united in marriage Aug. 2, 2003.

•Courtney Redlinger and Kelsey Koffend each had 11 points and eight rebounds in Winfield-Mt. Union’s basketball win over WACO on Dec. 5.
•W. Raymond Long, age 93, of Winfield, died Dec. 4, 2008 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.
2013
•WMU 65, WACO 58 boys’ basketball. Max Fricke’s 21 points led the Wolves in double figures in their win at Wayland Dec. 6.
•WMU 47, L&M 53 boys’ basketball. Three Wolves scored in double figures at Winfield-Mt. Union defeated L&M Dec. 3. Max Fricke had 15 points, Zach Davis and Jake Edwards each scored 12.
