•E. Harold Byers, age 90, died Dec. 18, 1998 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

•Ricky Dean Buffington, age 47, of Winfield, died Dec. 20, 1998 at the University Hospitals in Iowa City.

•Maranda Connop, of the Wizards 4-H Club, received the Henry County Outstanding 4-H Senior Award.

•Matt Thurman, a senior at Winfield-Mt. Union, achieved the honor of going to All-State Band at Ames.

•Ramsie Brooke Carroll and Greg Alan Farlow were married in the Faith Baptist Church in Camp Point, Illinois.

•Molly Rees and Chris Hartzler announced their engagement and upcoming Dec. 27, 2003 wedding.

•On Dec. 7, 2008, a trailer loaded with various items was stolen from the Chad and Clyde Milks residence in Winfield.

•The Winfield Library was awarded a $2000 Community Grant by the Walmart Distribution Center in Mt. Pleasant.

•Lucile McKasson, age 94, of Winfield, died Dec. 14 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center.

•The Winfield Public Library received a donation of $500 from the Crooked Creek Committee to be used for the summer reading program.

•Dana Remick and Marcus Loyd were married on Sept. 28 in New London.

•Myron and Tana Jennings of Winfield will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 28.
