•Jake and Candy Stineman, Winfield, sustained minor injuries in a two-car accident Jan. 6 while en route to a wrestling tournament in Davenport.
•Jana Jo Long and Michael Robert Leeney were united in marriage on Dec. 11, 1993 at their residence in Aurora, Colorado.
•Howell Owens, age 81, of Winfield, formerly of Columbus Junction, died Jan. 10, 1994 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
1999
•Ryan Haines has taken a position of agent and manager of Linder-Smith Insurance Agency.
•Warmth & Wonders Preschool received a check in the amount of $200 from the Winfield Chamber of Commerce.
•Clarence Canby Unkrich, age 75, of Swedesburg, died Jan. 24, 1999 at the Burlington Medical Center.
2004
•The Winfield Fire and Rescue Department recorded 102 calls for the 2003 year, with 2245.85 man hours.
•Stacy Ann Thomas and Ryan Lee Buffington, both of Winfield, announced their engagement and upcoming Jan. 24, 2004 wedding date.
•Kay Bernau, age 64, of Iowa City, died of cancer on Dec. 28, 2003 at her home.
2009
•Scott Jennings and Ryan Rees, both firefighters on the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department, have recently received their Instructor I certification. This qualification allows them to teach various required courses in firefighting.
•With temperatures falling below the zero-mark Jan. 14, Winfield firemen were called out to a two-story, unoccupied residence fire on South Locust St. owned by Cleo Kephart.
2014
•On Jan. 12, members of the Winfield Presbyterian Church celebrated the 20th anniversary of Pastor Dottie Halverson’s ordination to the Presbyterian Ministry with a fellowship meal following worship.
•The WMU Lady Wolves were victorious over Columbus in an overtime game, 54-47, on Jan. 10. Shelby Therme led the team with 18 points, with Emily Mathews contributing 15.
