•Glen and Louise Seberg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 20.
•Pauline Payne was honored for her work and dedication with a Support Staff Award at the John Deere Territory 22 Awards Banquet.
•A winter storm hit Winfield on Feb. 25 causing school closings.
1999
•Dawn McAllister has been elected as an officer of the Student Alumni Association at Coe College in Cedar Rapids.
•Cynthia A. Short, age 101, of Sunrise Terrace died March 5, 1999.
•Ashley Wilkerson was named to the girls’ basketball SEISC All-conference first team.
2004
•Katie Kohoutak of Shueyville and Clinton Haight of Winfield were united in marriage Aug. 31, 2003 in Cedar Rapids.
•Herman Wolf celebrated his 99th birthday on March 14 with an open house.
•John and Amanda (Haight) Rhomberg announced the birth of their daughter, Sara Susan, born Feb. 12, 2004.
2009
•Matthew McElhinney, age 27, of Morning Sun was killed in a one-vehicle accident Feb. 27, 2009.
•Brenda Gott of Winfield has a new granddaughter. Rylee Ann was born to Dave and Melissa Merrifield of Cedar Rapids.
•Rayne Nicole Perrenoud was baptized in the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield on Feb. 22, 2009. In attendance were four generations of the Perrenoud family that have been baptized in this church.
2014
•Kamryn Mello of Winfield received a I rating at the district individual speech contest and will be advancing to the state competition. She is the daughter of Cary and Deena Mello of Winfield.
•The Winfield First Presbyterian Church Deacons will be hosting a soup luncheon on March 9 to benefit the family of Nathan and Carrie Giese. Their daughter, Kaylee, was born early and is awaiting surgery.
•Elvira Mabeus of Winfield will celebrate her 85th birthday on March 13 with a card shower.
