•Lynn Ubben has been named the new WMU Superintendent/Elementary Principal.
•Cari Wooton of Seymour and Jeremy Fuller of Panora have announced their engagement and upcoming marriage.
•Harold Francis Johnson, age 94, of Winfield died April 4, 2004 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.
1999
•Approximately 20 Winfield residents attended a public hearing on April 6 to voice their concerns about the current cable service. The City Council set the hearing as the franchise of the current company is up for renewal. Currently, cable service is provided through New Path Communications.
•Momentum Golf, Inc. will begin manufacturing a new training golf tool in Winfield.
•A rural Crawfordsville home was destroyed by fire April 11. The residence of Scott and Brenna Hamrick was a total loss.
1994
•Courtney Mace was honored at a bridal shower on April 1, 1994. Courtney Mace and Tony Davis are to be married May 28 at the First Presbyterian Church.
•Lonnie and Julia Bartel welcomed a baby daughter. Amanda Dawn was born April 10, 1994.
•John M. Anderson, age 27, died in New Castle, Australia on April 10 from fungal meningitis.

•Ryan Haines fired the first hole-in-one of the season at Twin Lakes Golf Course when he dropped his drive on eight to beat his little brother and win the soda.

•Ed and Debra Hinkle of Winfield are proud to announce the arrival of Elizabeth Marie into their family.
•Winfield’s Fire Department flipped pancakes for equipment at a fundraiser on April 7.
