•Brooke Jennings, senior at Winfield-Mt. Union, was recognized by Gov. Terry Branstad for outstanding academic achievement at the Governor’s Scholar Recognition Ceremony on April 27.

•Don Hills of Winfield will be celebrating his 80th birthday on May 20, 2009.

•Senior speakers at the 2009 Winfield-Mt. Union Commencement ceremonies will be Kaprice Carlson, Salutatorian, and Emery Davis, Valedictorian.

2004

•Emily Buffington was selected to receive the Louisa County Farm Bureau Women’s Scholarship.

•An open house was held May 16, 2004, in honor of Don and Clara Hill’s 50th wedding anniversary.

1999

•Kinsey Olson, daughter of Jeff and Gayle Olson of rural Winfield, was selected to represent the Olds American Legion Auxiliary at Hawkeye Girls State.

•Brandy Lynn Smith and Jeffrey Keith Loyd have announced their engagement and upcoming Aug. 28 wedding.

1994

•Dennis Hunger, son of Ned and Mary Hunger of Mt. Union, received his Eagle Scout Award.

•Nancy Rae Lund and David Carl Davis have announced their engagement and upcoming June 11 marriage at the Swedesburg Lutheran Church.

•Gary Grelk suffered a serious injury to his arm in an accident at the farm of his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Griffith of rural Crawfordsville.

•The Grand Opening of Cuttin’ Loose was held May 22 by Traci Nicholson, owner.

1984

•Merrill Crawford of Dubuque spent Easter weekend visiting his parents, Keith and Mary Crawford.

•Cecil and Marvel Linder visited over the Easter weekend with Lee and Sharon Rawhouser in Norfolk, Nebraska.
