2014
- The old Benteco building in Winfield has seen better days and will be demolished by the City of Winfield sometime in June.
- Qualifying for the state track meet for WMU in girls’ events are Lou Krieger-Coen in the discus; Karlie Wade in the 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles, and long jump; Emily Mathews in the 100 hurdles; and the 4x200 relay team. Qualifying for the boys are Max Fricke in the 400, Jon Quinn in the 1600, Gavin Bencze in the 3200, and the 4x400 and 4x100 relay teams.
2009
- The WMU boys’ track team were crowned District Champions Saturday, May 15, and qualified five runners to the state meet in Des Moines.
2004
- WMU elementary teacher, Donna Carpenter, was presented the Mt. Pleasant Teacher-of-the-Year award. She received a plaque, Walmart vest, and $1000 to spend for something for the WMU Elementary School.
- The Winfield Library received two checks recently: $1000 grant from the Walmart Foundation and $1579 from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust.
1999
- Joanna Woepking and Jess Settles have announced their engagement and upcoming June 5 wedding.
- Richard Neale Sherer, age 68, died May 16, 1999 at Burlington Medical Center.
1994
- Lucinda Jo Glenn, WMU and University of Iowa graduate, has been selected to serve on the four-person staff of the United States Naval Airbase with the mission of coordinating the base closing with the Bermudian Government. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Glenn.
- LeRoy Quinlin was injured in a two-car accident on May 7 when a car driven by Floyd Mann failed to stop at a posted stop sign.
1989
- Barb Hassman and Randy Gipple have announced their engagement and upcoming May 27 wedding.
- Dale and Kaila Halling are parents of a girl. Kira Rachele was born May 18, 1989.
1984
- Airman Brett C. Williams has been assigned to Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois, after completing Air Force Basic training at Lackland, AFB, Texas. He is the son of Mrs. Glenda R Stewart and Craig Williams.
- Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gabeline announce the engagement and upcoming June wedding of their daughter, Donna Jean, to Mr. John Stephen Carroll of Montreal, Quebec, Canada
