2014
- Dorothy Marie “Dot” Johnson, age 88, died May 24, 2014, at the Sunrise Terrace Nursing and Rehab Center in Winfield.
- WMU golfers earn bid to state meet: Jake Edwards carded a 39-46-85 to finish seventh individually and lead WMU to a second-place finish in a Class 1A boys district tournament. The team consisted of Jake Edwards, Klayton Booth, Zach Davis, Kolt Rossiter, and Thayne McElhinney.
2009
- The Winfield-Mt. Union Community Schools has extended a contract for Superintendent to Patrick Coen of Mt. Pleasant.
- The first fundraiser to be held to construct a new track and football field at the Winfield-Mt. Union school will be held May 30. A Walk-A-Thon will be held at the old track.
2004
- Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Carlson celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 23, 2004.
- Heather Kruger, daughter of Richard and Cathy Lauderdale, received her Master’s Degree from Marygrove College, Detroit, Michigan.
1999
- Mark and Susan Beatty are the parents of a daughter. Alijah Makay was born May 19, 1999.
- Melodie Lynn Warth, age 42, of Iowa City, died May 23, 1999, in an auto accident near Riverside.
1994
- Qualifying for state track from WMU were Brian Jones, Ed Pforts, Aaron Taylor Burt Lappe, Billy Nordyke, Nate Riordan, and Eric Rawson.
- Mr. and Mrs. Lee Cornwell celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They were married May 25, 1929 at Rock Island, Illinois.
1989
- Suzanne Marie Schirm and Allen James Brown announce their engagement and upcoming July wedding at Clearfield.
- Several new pieces of playground equipment will be put up at the school in June. They include the tunnel, tube slide, straight slide, and tire climber.
1984
- · Kathy Eward, of Morning Sun, was injured in a one-vehicle accident on May 11 on a gravel road two miles east of Winfield.
- Annette Ruth Jurgens and Charles Busbee were joined in marriage on April 7 at Clearfield, Iowa.
