Out of Winfield’s Past

The law firm of Cray, Goddard, Miller & Taylor, LLP has announced Ryan Gerling as a new partner of the firm. Gerling is a 2004 graduate of Winfield-Mt. Union, a 2008 graduate of the University of Iowa, and a 2011 graduate of Drake Law School. His practice is general practice with an emphasis in business family litigation and real property. As of July 1, the firm now known as Cray, Goddard, Miller, Taylor & Gerling, LLP.

Leon and Kathy Kuehn have a new grandson. Camden John Kuehn was born to Travis and Jennifer Kuehn of Ottumwa on June 13, 2014.

Courtney Redlinger has graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Management: Humar Resources from the University of Northern Iowa.

Graduating from Iowa Wesleyan College from Winfield were Jacob Tolander, Bachelor of Science, Business Administration; and Jordan Louise McLaughlin, Bachelor of Science, Human Services, Educational Foundations.

2009

A farewell reception will be held July 25 for Lynn and Dave Ubben to thank them for being a part of the community for the past five years and to wish them well as they move to Perry.

Helen Marie Canby Johnson, age 81, of Tuscon, Arizona died suddenly June 24 at her home.

2004

Winfield has welcomed two pastors to the community: Rev. Patte Henderson as Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church and Rev. Thomas Connors at the United Methodist Church.

Steve and Shawn Hedlund, with a 77, won the Father/Son Golf Tournament held at Twin Lakes Golf Club on June 27.

1999

Mr. and Mrs. George Gerst celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Janey Everett has been selected to fill the vacant position on the Winfield Public Library Board.

Carol and Dirk Westercamp are the parents of a son, Andrew Joseph, born July 10, 1999.

1994

Courtney Lynn Mace and Tony Lee Davis were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield on May 28, 1994.

Jennifer Dean and David Calvin have announced their engagement and upcoming July 23, 1994, wedding.

Isabelle Piper, age 87, of Winfield, died June 25, 1994, at the Burlington Medical Center.

1989

An open house and ice cream social will be held at Sunrise Terrace Care Center for the new addition.

Terri Jo Peters and Gregory John Townsend have announced their engagement and upcoming Sept. 9 wedding.

1984

Gary Quinlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Quinlin of Winfield has been accepted as a volunteer in the Peace Corps.

Margaret Haight returned home after a three-week visit to Ohio.

Five young people were confirmed at the Olds United Church of Christ: Richard Canby, David Miller, Brad Shelman, Kim Smith, and Teresa Swailes.
