2009
Laura Heidt and Sean Honts, both of Urbandale, have announced their upcoming wedding date of August 8, 2009. Sean is the son of Mike and Sherry Honts of Winfield.
Barb (Bunker) and Gary Long celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in Branson, Missouri.
Michael Brown, an agriculture studies major at Iowa State University, is a participant in this year’s GROWMARK summer intern program. He is the son of Robert and Debra Brown of Winfield.
2004
Prairie Ag Coop in Mt. Union was burglarized July 7, 2004. Forced entry was used to enter the business office as well as an outbuilding. An undetermined amount of money was reported missing from the business office.
On July 9, 2004, in the early morning hours, Twin Lakes Country Club was robbed. A video machine was broken into, cash taken, and a safe taken.
Robert Allen “Bob” Skrukrud, age 66, died July 20, 2004, at his home.
1999
Amy Freiberg, daughter of Bruce and Lois Freiberg, was selected as the Henry County Fair Queen on July 14.
Beau Joshua was born to Dean and Crystal Becker on July 12, 1999, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Brad Benson has completed the 1999 Iowa School of Banking held in June at the Iowa Memorial Union on the University of Iowa campus.
1994
Amy Carleton and Aric Sharp have announced their engagement and approaching marriage on August 6, 1994.
Kevin and Lisa Kongable are the parents of a baby girl, Janessa Renee, born July 1, 1994.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Werner received the Yard of the Month award. They have added a stone wall along the sidewalk in front of their home, along with many red and white flowers.
1989
WMU and Morning Sun were holding a joint meeting to discuss a possible two-way whole grade sharing agreement.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Young celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 6.
“Doc” Beauchamp is hanging up the scissors and settling into a long-deserved retirement. He is the last of a long line of barbers who have clipped the hair of many men in Winfield.
1984
A longtime member of the WMU school board plans to retire this year. Robert Humphreys, rural Crawfordsville, has served on the WMU board for the past 23 years.
Clarene and Louis Unkrich attended the first reunion of the navy veterans of the ship “Hydrus” held at Ft. Wayne, Indiana, the weekend of June 30.
Sunday, July 15, has been scheduled for the Chamber of Commerce “Chicken Barbecue and Fun Day.” There will be a ballgame.
