Out of Winfield’s Past

P.E.O. Chapter GT, Winfield, selected 2014 WMU graduate Brooke Jennings as the recipient of a $400 scholarship. She is the daughter of Jacqueline Jennings and the late Brian Jennings.

John Busbee, former Winfield hometown boy, will be hosting with Bonnie on the Van & Bonnie Show on Aug. 21 while Van is on vacation.

2004

Don and Helen Mullin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 22 at the Parish Hall in Swedesburg.

Myers Rossiter was presented with the Iowa Lion’s Foundation Warren Coleman Award for time given to his community.

Miles Edward Shelman, age 70, of rural Winfield, died Aug. 6, 2004.

Dr. Reuben and Annabel Widmer celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 1, 1999.

Keith and Patricia Jones celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 26, 1999.

Larry and Donna Montross celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on July 27.

1994

Wendy Wheeler of Nebraska and Matthew Miller of Winfield were united in marriage July 9, 1994, at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington.

Gladys Mahala (Sherman) Dare, age 90, died Aug. 4, 1994.

1989

An open house will be held at Sunrise Terrace on Sept. 10 to celebrate the 104th birthday of Sherman Harned.

Dori Alvine and Bryan Curtis were united in marriage July 22 at the Swedesburg Lutheran Church.
