Out of Winfield’s Past

Ed and Mary Kilpatrick purchased an “almost new” piano for Sunrise Terrace Care Center in memory of Mary’s mother, Frances Pogemiller, who resided at the Care Center for several years before her death on July 8, 2014.

2004

Izabell Kathleen Yoder was born to Jill and Justin Yoder of Morning Sun. Grandparents are Bob and Cindy Morse of Winfield and Rich and Vicki Koffend of Morning Sun.

Fay Dean Diller, age 69, died July 7, 2004, at his home in Conesville.

Navy Seaman Matthew D. Klohr and his shipmates recently participated in the Navy’s largest deployment evolution, Summer Pulse, 2004, while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, homeported in San Diego.

2009

Gaylon and Marlys Fear will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house August 29, 2009. It will be hosted by their children, Alan Fear and wife Missy, Kent Fear, Gloria Fear and Randy White.

Donald Mullin, age 74, died August 20, 2009, at his home in rural Winfield.

1999

Carmen Polk, daughter of Doug and Carolyn Steele, has been hired as the Assistant Director of College Relations at Dana College.

Jan Walter, CMC/AAE, City Clerk of Winfield, has been accepted as a member in the Academy for Advanced Education of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.

Ruth Hesseltine won the grand prize of a TV set during Crooked Creek Days.

A shower honoring Krista Johnson was held at the home of Teresa Baker.

Dwight Dale Smith, age 88, of Winfield, formerly of Trenton, died August 10, 1994, at the Burlington Medical Center.

1989

Lloyd Lindell was honored for 71 years of continuous membership in the American Legion.

Floyd B. Bates, age 62, died September 2 at the Henry County Health Center.

Cousins Larry Jennings and Vivan Jennings have developed their own brand of seed corn, Cyclone Seeds.

Gaylon and Marlys Fear celebrated their silver wedding anniversary.

Jan Elaine Krieger and Bruce Allen Little exchanged wedding vows July 7, 1984, in Iowa City.
