2004
Lindsay Culver, daughter of Alex and Corriene Culver, was named to the Central College Dean’s List for the 2004 Spring Semester.
1999
Bill and Mary Wintermeyer enjoyed several visits from their family during the summer months. July 23, Annor Benson of Olympia, Washington, arrived at the home of her maternal grandparents, Bill and Mary Wintermeyer, for a weekend visit.
Scott D. Briggs, of Winfield, received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is the son of Don and Beth Briggs of Winfield.
Troy and Tiffany Ulshoeffer, Burlington, are the proud parents of a baby boy, Broderick James, born Aug. 23, 1999. Local grandparents are Karl and Gina Hester of Winfield.
The University of Iowa held fall commencement ceremonies July 30, 1999. Graduating from Winfield was Jennifer Garris Dill with a Bachelor of Science in Sport, Health, Leisure and Physical Studies.
1994
Mr. and Mrs. William Carden will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 12 with a family dinner. Marjorie Larsen and William Carden were married at the Presbyterian manse. They have a son, Terry Carden, and a daughter, Carolyn Hagge, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Marianne White accompanied Marty Ross and Darcy Mathews to drive to Murphreesboro, Tennessee. While there they attended the wedding of her grandson, Brent White and Tina Giles.
Robert and Carol Totemeier returned home from Colorado Springs, where they vacationed several days with Arlo and Margaret Underwood. They drove to Antonito, Colorado and rode the narrow gauge railroad from there to Osier.
1989
The Morning Sun School Board voted to not accept the Whole Grade Sharing Program with Winfield-Mt. Union. The board voted 3-2 as a special meeting to not continue discussing the plan.
David Tandy and the Winfield Equipment Company have been appointed the new GMC dealer in Winfield.
Gary Jones, rural Winfield, was recognized by Wyffels Hybrids at its annual sales meeting. He received the Outstanding Dealer Award, which is the most prestigious award a Wyffels dealer can earn.
1984
Kenneth Dunn has been appointed as Agricultural Loan Officer at Farmers National Bank.
King and Queen candidates for the 1984 WMU Homecoming are Diane Venghous, Michelle Ingwersen, Mary Kay Humphreys, Jenna Krieger, Kim Hagge and Jackie Johnson; and Karl Loibl, Mike Johnson, Jeff Beaman, Tony Canby, Darin Fricke, and Kevin Cline.
Authorities say a 1975 Chevy owned by Richard Larson, and driven by Scott Larson, age 16, of Winfield, was westbound on H-38 when the driver failed to stop at the junction of H-23. The auto went through the intersection, became airborne over the ditch, and went through a fence, coming to rest in a cornfield. Scott D. Tandy, age 16, one of the passengers in the auto, suffered cuts and abrasions.
