2014
A farewell open house will be held for Keith and Mike Thomas on Sept. 20, 2014. All are welcome to come wish them well in their move from Winfield.
The Myers and Marlene Rossiter family were honored for their Winfield Century Farm at the Iowa State Fair on Aug. 12, 2014. The farm was established in 1914.
Gwyn McCreight will be celebrating her 80th birthday on Sept. 25, 2014.
2004
Megan Marie Hansen, of Harlan, and Gregory Lucas Culver, of Winfield, will be married Oct. 16, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of Harlan.
Elizabeth Miller of Winfield has been chosen as an ambassador for the Central College Student Ambassador Program.
Donna Carpenter’s first grade class at WMU recently received new reading books as a result of a $1000 literacy grant from the Walmart foundation. Mrs. Carpenter applied for the grant last spring. The books are used for kindergarten through second grade.
1999
Family members joining Bill and Mary Wintermeyer over the Labor Day weekend were Ronna and Charlie Lorensen, Al and AJ Albert and PJ Wintermeyer. Al Albert drove Bill’s 1935 Hupp Mobile in the noon Calvacade of Power parade at Old Threshers.
Guests of Phil and Shasta Marshall over the weekend were Paul and Karen Ring, Joshua and Ben of Dunlap, Illinois; Gail and Delores Ring of Missouri Valley; Ellie and Lonnie Tompkins of Cedar Falls; and Phil and Norma Marshall of Altus, Oklahoma.
Faye Ibbotson and Wanda Linder spent 12 days visiting with Larry and Sharon Blouser of Nebraska. Sharon is the daughter of Faye.
1994
Guests of Walt and Shirl Hatton over the Labor Day weekend were their daughter and husband, Kirt and Kymm McIntosh of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Their son, Kurt Hatton, of Grinnell, stayed extra days while his sister was here.
Orville and Evelyn Pounds drove to Indianola to attend the voice recital of their granddaughter, Jessica Pounds, at Simpson College.
Michelle and Kathryn Leach, Milo, were surprise visitors in the home of their grandmother, Dorothy Erickson. Kathryn has recently returned from a two-month stay in New Guinea with the Wycliffe Bible translators.
Ten-year-old Alison Rebecca Stutzman received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism Sunday morning during the worship service at the Winfield United Methodist Church. Alison is the daughter of Stan and Kathy Stutzman of Austin, Minnesota and granddaughter of Les and Alice Stutzman.
1989
Mildred Sapp entered St. Luke’s Hospital, Davenport, on Sept. 7 and had PTC heart surgery on the 12th. She returned to her Winfield home on the 17th and is recuperating there.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thacker, rural Winfield, wish to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Laura Lynn, to John William Shoultz, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Shoultz of rural Muscatine.
1984
Bill Butler received an Emmy at the awards ceremony in Los Angeles held for the technical people in the movie industry. He received the Emmy for is work as Director of Photography on the TV movie “A Streetcar Named Desire” starring Ann Margaret. Bill is a farmer resident of Mt. Pleasant and Winfield. His mother, Verca Butler, and daughter, Judy Rawson, are both of Winfield.
