The Winfield-Mt. Union Homecoming Court has been announced: Nicole Escher, Karlie Wade, Lou Krieger-Coen, Samantha Jamison, Grace Edwards, Keaton Pallister, Colton Hinkle, Thayne McElhinney, Kyle Davis, and Kerry Davis.
Kathy Buxton of Winfield placed second in the yodeling contest at the 2014 Iowa State Fair.
The Winfield United Methodist Church Youth Sunday School worked with residents of Sunrise Terrace Care Center to make Christmas gift bags for WMU’s Santa’s Workshop.
Hazel Maude Cisna, age 102, of Winfield, died July 24, 2014, in her home at Westview Apartments.

The 2009 Winfield-Mt. Union Homecoming Court has been announced: Dillion Price, Derek Richards, Kerry Unkrich, Glen Morgan, Nick Crow, Alex Mullen, Breanne Smith, Alicia Brown, Karla Hester, and Kelsey Koffend.
Walter (Shorty) and Bev (Alter) Mullin will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on October 10 with an open house hosted by their children.
2004
Patricia King of Winfield will be retiring from Pilot Grove Savings Bank. Pat has worked in the banking business for 25 years, beginning in October 1979 at Farmers National Bank in Winfield. Pat joined her new bank family as Pilot Grove Savings Bank acquired the Farmers National Bank offices in Winfield and Mt. Pleasant.
Shelly Novak and J.R. Hewitt will be united in marriage on October 2, 2004.
1999
Roland and Betty Underwood spent the weekend at the home of their daughter Carol and Rob Bowers and daughters of Ames.
Ruth and Beth Briggs attended a bridal shower for Barbara Stevens at New London last Saturday.
Norma Huston returned home after a three-week stay at West Plains, Missouri. Her daughter spent three days with her before returning home.
Lorna and HS Stevens, of Lancaster, Texas, spent the past week at the Phil Marshall home. Lorna is Phil’s sister.
1994
Winfield Police Chief Steve Staider reports that on Oct. 3, Teklad Standard Diets Division of Harlan Sprague-Dawley, Inc. was broken into. Taken was cash amounting to approximately $60, and the candy and pop machines were broken and change taken from them.
Mildred McCreight remains a patient at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City recovering from a broken hip. Vera Tesdahl is a patient at HCHC after falling and breaking a hip. Verlee Connop is a patient at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Gordon Bennett is a patient at HCHC in Mt. Pleasant.
1989
Lincoln and Allison Settles of Winfield both exhibited an animal in the 4-H Derby Pig show at the Iowa State Fair. Lincoln’s hog placed second overall in the Derby contest.
Mary B. Settles, age 69, of Winfield, died Oct. 3, 1989 at the Burlington Medical Center.
1984
Jenna Kreiger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. VE Krieger of Mt. Union and Mike Johnson, son of Mrs. Irene Johnson of Winfield, were named queen and king, respectively, of the 1984 WMU Homecoming festivities.
Virgil and Mildred Linder have returned home from a three-week vacation tour of Europe. They visited 11 countries and the Vatican.
