Myers Rossiter received the Melvin Jones Award, the highest award given to a Lions member, at the Winfield Lions Club meeting on October 8.
Ed Kilpatrick received the Warren Coleman Honorary Award, the third highest award in Lions, at the Winfield Lions Club meeting.
2009
Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield was honored with a Quality Program Award by the Iowa Health Care Association and Iowa Center for Assisted Living.

Russell Buffington received the Winfield’s Fireman of the Year Award for 2004.
Raelyn Huff, member of WMU’s volleyball team received a plaque for becoming a member of the 1000 assist club.
1999
For the third time in their high school careers, Lindsey Loyd and Sean Honts, both WMU seniors, have attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as members of the 1999 All-State Band.
Dwight Kenneth Patterson, age 81, died Oct. 19, 1999, at his home.

Mr. and Mrs. Guy Allen celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with their family.
Gail Washburn and Roger Kissinger were married in the garden of Hollins House at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, California.

Joe Peters, WMU-MS football coach, was named as conference coach of the year. His team went 8-0 in regular season. Jay Malone was named to the offensive and defensive all-conference first teams.
Virginia Perrenoud, Winfield, will celebrate her 90th birthday on November 12.

A Century Farm Award was presented to Mrs. Florence Carlson at the 1984 Iowa State Fair.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Unkrich celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
