Wendell and Dorothy Jean Helphrey of Winfield will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 11.
Louise, Stan, and Valerie Unkrich enjoyed a visit from their daughter, Angela and her family. Angela’s husband, Alfonso Ribeiro, recently completed ‘Dancing With the Stars’ where he was named the Champion of the Mirror Ball.
2009
Brooke Wade, WMU volleyball player, made the All Hawk Eye volleyball first team. Making honorable mention from WMU was Karla Hester and Whitney Wagler.
Nancy Pounds, daughter of the late Orville and Evelyn Pounds of Winfield, and David Sutherland, son of the late Melvin and Donna Sutherland of Burlington, are pleased to announce their engagement. They are planning a June, 2010 wedding.
2004
The Winfield Chamber of Commerce made a donation of $100 to the MOPS (Methodist, Open Bible, Presbyterian and Spring Run Churches) organization.
The Winfield City Council met in special session Nov. 22 to hold a public hearing on a proposed Community Development Block Grand requesting $55,000 from the Iowa Development of Economic Development for the purchase of the existing medical clinic in Winfield.

Craig Ross and his wife, Connie, hosted an open house in their new building which houses Pioneer Seed and his equipment.
Clara Widmer, age 88, died Dec. 7, 1999, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.
1994
WMU Wolves took runner-up in the football championship game in the UNI Dome, losing to West Bend-Mallard 16-15 in overtime.
Chad Zeleny and Missi Holmes are the proud parents of a baby boy. Derek Allen Zeleny was born Oct. 31, 1994.
Patricia Beth Klopfenstein and Andrew Michael Winborn have announced their engagement and upcoming Jan. 7 marriage.

Nellie Wolin (Mrs. Carl), age 102, died Dec. 9 at Mapleleaf Healthcare.
