Panther basketball teams face Columbus and Highland

Girls’ Basketball
Columbus (4-1) 49, Pekin (2-3) 35
Columbus and Pekin were nearly equal through the first half last Tuesday, December 5.
Columbus held just a 7-4 lead after one and a 12-10 advantage at the half. Things changed in the third though as the Wildcats widened their lead to 36-18 after a 24-8 third period.
Pekin bounced back to take the fourth 17-13, but the deficit was too great.
Anna Hadley led the Panthers in scoring with 18 points. Hadley also finished with 11 rebounds. Chloe Glosser put six points on the board; while Abby Guise, Renae Eubanks, and Alex Parsons each added three. Guise had 11 rebounds in the game. Eubanks and Parsons each pulled down nine rebounds while Paislee Coleman had four.
Highland 36, Pekin 11
Highland grabbed win number six on the season with its win over Pekin on Friday, December 8.
The Huskies put together an outstanding defensive effort as well as the Panthers.
Highland hit double digits just once in a quarter. The Huskies outscored the Panthers, 9-4, 8-5, 8-2 and 11-0 in each of the fourth quarters.
Abby Guise led Pekin with five points and 14 rebounds. Chloe Glosser ended with three points and Renae Eubanks had two points and 13 boards. Anna Hadley pulled down seven rebounds and Alex Parsons had three.
Boys’ Basketball
Pekin 67, Columbus 28
Last Tuesday, December 5, the Panthers put up 32 points in the first quarter enroute to an SEISC North victory against Columbus, moving to 2-1 and dropping Columbus to 0-4 in the process. Pekin led 49-14 at halftime and 62-25 after the third quarter.
JaeDon Wolver led the Panthers in scoring with 15 points. Sven Dahlstrom put up 12, while Will Adam had 10, Cole Millikin had nine, and Kasey Davis added eight. Wolver had 10 boards, Davis had 10 boards and five assists. Isaac Sylvester pulled down six rebounds, Will Adam and Henry Adam each had four with Henry also having seven assists.
Pekin 75, Highland 14
Pekin notched win number three on the season with a dominant showing against Highland last Friday, December 8.
The Panthers led 18-4 after the first, 38-6 at the half and 60-8 after three.
Sven Dahlstrom finished with 18 points and six boards for Pekin. Will Adam had 13 points, along with JaeDon Wolver. Cole Millikin made three of five three-pointers to add 11 points. Robert Brown put up six points, Henry Adam had five, and Nolan Glick added four. Kasey Davis and Wolver each had five rebounds, while Isaac Sylvester had four.
