Panther cross-country teams compete in Forest Park Festival at St. Louis

The Panthers traveled to St. Louis on Saturday, Sept. 10 to run in the Forest Park cross-country Festival. Both Pekin teams came away second in their divisions, and both teams had four individual runners placed in the top 30.
In the girls’ race, Chloe Glosser was Pekin’s top runner, taking second in 20:06.8. Lauren Steigleder also had a top 10 finish, taking sixth in 21:39. Audrey Fariss finished 11th in 22:43.2. Callie Deutschle finished 27th in 24:03.4, and Lexi Swearingen was 37th in 24:53.3. Breanna Drish was 40th in 25:10.2, Abby Guise was 41st in 25:17.7, and Cambree Earnest was 42nd in 25:18.4. Renae Eubanks finished 51st in 26:03.8, Teagan Swearingen was 53rd in 26:18.1, Brinley Phillips was 56th in 26:25.6, Alyssa Sylvester was 90th in 30:07.1, and Kadence Brisby was 96th in 32:56.1.
Brady McWhirter led the Panther boys, finishing second in 17:13.8. JaeDon Wolver finished in the top 10, taking ninth in 17:53.5. Mason Dahlstrom finished 18th in 18:29.2 and Cole Millikin was 19th in 18:30.4. Lane Fariss finished 49th in 19:54.7, Ben Guise was 59th in 20:19, Dylan Sobaski was 86th in 21:29.9, Brody Sobaski was 110th in 23:27.9, Conor Cloyd was 115th in 24:08.5, Hayden Miller was 121st in 25:12.4, and Clayton Harvey was 122nd in 25:12.7.
Tuesday, Sept. 12 English Valleys
Pekin’s cross-country teams competed in the English Valleys Invitational last Tuesday, September 12.
The girls’ team won with 26 points, three points under second place English Valleys. Durant took third with 79.
Chloe Glosser won with a time of 18:12.51. Finishing fourth was Lauren Steigleder in 20:20.26. Audrey Fariss was eighth with a time of 21:07.91. Finishing 17th through 20th was Cambree Earnest in 23:06.27, Abby Guise in 23:32.62, Callie Deutschle in 23:44.89, and Breanna Drish in 23:50.08. Brinley Phillips was 23rd in 23:56.23, Lexi Swearingen was 28th in 24:43.26, and Renae Eubanks finished 34th in 25:59.54. Teagan Swearingen finished 38th in 26:13.63, Alyssa Sylvester was 47th in 28:17, and Kadence Brisby was 49th in 30:59.79.
The Pekin boys’ team won with 29 points, beating second-place HLV by 45 points. North Mahaska finished third with 83, and Hillcrest was fourth with 106.
Brady McWhirter won the event in 15:47.27. Also having top 10 finishes for Pekin were JaeDon Wolver, third in 16:39.34; Mason Dahlstrom, fourth in 16:43.16; and Cole Millikin, sixth in 17:22.82. Ben Guise finished 18th in 18:57.04, Brody Sobaski was 30th in 20:14.52, and Dylan Sobaski was 32nd in 20:26.88.
Clayton Harvey was 43rd in 21:54.35, Conor Cloyd was 45th in 22:09.33, and Hayden Miller was 48th in 22:23.60.
Saturday, Sept. 16 Central College
The Panther cross-country teams competed in the 18th Heartland XC Classic at Central College in Pella on Saturday, Sept. 16.
In the varsity girls’ race, Chloe Glosser was the first Panther to cross the finish line, taking tenth in 19:33. Lauren Steigleder crossed the line 80th in 21:40.4, and Audrey Fariss was 102nd in 22:32.3.
In the varsity boys’ race, Pekin had a team finish of 25th with 710 points. Brady McWhirter was the first Panther to cross the line, finishing 76th in 17:05.8.
JaeDon Wolver was 114th in 17:34.9, Mason Dahlstrom was 166th in 18:51.7, and Cole Millikin was 170th in 19:02. Ben Guise finished 184th in 20:58.9, Dylan Sobaski was 190th in 22:50.6, and Brody Sobaski was 193rd in 24:03.2.
The JV girls’ team finished 14th as a team with 435 points. Lexi Swearingen finished 62nd in 24:25.4, while Teagan Swearingen was 88th in 26:52.2.
Brinley Phillips was 92nd in 28:15.4, Alyssa Sylvester was 96th in 30:59.8, and Kadence Brisbey was 97th in 31:50.7.
