Panther cross-country teams run at Knoxville and Albia as new season starts

Knoxville, Aug. 25
The Pekin High School cross-country teams opened their season at the Knoxville Early Bird Meet on Monday, August 25.
The girls’ team finished second with 62 points. PCM won with 20, Knoxville was third with 63, and E-B-F finished fourth with 94.
Pekin’s Chloe Glosser won the event, finishing in 19:02. The second Panther to cross the finish line was Abby Guise, taking 10th with a time of 23:42.
Callie Deutschle finished 14th in 26:08, Maddy Petrehn was 16th with a time of 26:21, and Harper Guise came in 21st in 26:45. Cambree Earnest was 23rd in 28:11, Hailey Pedrick was 24th in 28:17, and Emerson Porter was 25th in 28:19. Zoe Heisdorffer finished 27th in 29:43, Breanna Drish was 31st in 31:25, Reagan Wise was 33rd in 33:23, and Haven Hensley was 34th in 34:10.
In the boys’ race, Pekin finished third with 56 points. Host team Knoxville won with 37, PCM was second with 41, and E-B-F was fourth with 110.
Leading the Panthers was Cole Millikin, finishing fourth in 18:25. Also finishing in the top 10 were Mason Dahlstrom in seventh in 18:48 and Lane Fariss in eighth with a time of 19:00.
Landon Fariss took 18th in 21:30, Clayton Harvey was 22nd in 22:38, Conor Cloyd was 24th in 23:16, and Brody Sobaski was 26th in 23:38. Finishing 29th was Wyatt Brown in 24:30, 30th was Hayden Miller in 24:44, and 31st was Landon York in 24:48. Colton Harvey was 34th with a time of 25:32.
Albia, Aug. 28
Pekin’s Junior High and High School cross-country teams traveled to the Albia Golf and Leisure golf course Thursday, August 28.
The Panther High School boys’ team took a third place team finish with 72 points, while the girls’ team finished sixth with 119.
Senior Chloe Glosser once again won the race, with a time of 18:03.72. Abby Guise finished 18th in 23:54.14, and Maddy Petrehn was 31st in 24:40.50. Harper Guise finished 37th with a time of 24:57.07 and Callie Deutschle was 38th in 25:01.68. Zoe Heisdorffer was 41st in 25:16.13, Cambree Earnest was 46th in 26:41.61, Hailey Pedrick finished 48th in 26:53.96. 57th was Emerson Porter in 28:02.70, 61st was Breanna Drish in 29:46.12, 63rd was Haven Hensley in 30:13.37, and 68th was Reagan Wise in 33:16.66.
In the boys’ race, Lane Fariss was the top runner for Pekin, finishing third in 17:07.95, while Mason Dahlstrom was fourth with a time of 17:22.83 and Cole Millikin finished seventh in 17:52.95. Landon Fariss finished 23rd in 19:54.91, Brody Sobaski was 38th in 20:50.81, and Clayton Harvey was 41st in 20:58.43. Conor Cloyd finished 53rd in 21:36.61, Hayden Miller was 65th in 22:43.99, Colton Harvey was 70th in 23:19.82, and Wyatt Brown was 71st in 23:28.24.
Pekin’s Junior High girls’ team won their event with 20 points.
Jude Freese-McCabe was the first Panther to cross the finish line, taking third in a time of 7:00.31. Scout Lock took fourth with a time of 7:19.86, and Stella Dickey was fifth in 7:39.84. Eleanora Ferrell was eighth with a time of 7:57.83, Preslee Hixson was 12th in 8:45.05, and Gracyn Hervey was 15th in 9:39.66.
