Panther cross-country teams run at Van Buren

Pekin’s junior high and high school cross-country teams ran in the Van Buren County Warrior Invitational in Keosauqua on Sept. 9.
The high school girls placed second as a team with 68 points. Winning the event was Van Buren with 41. Keokuk finished third with 70, Danville was fourth with 88, Mediapolis finished fifth with 98, and Davis County was sixth with 100.
Pekin’s Chloe Glosser won the race, finishing in 18:22.98. Abby Guise was the next Panther in, taking eighth in 21:49.68. Maddy Petrehn finished 16th with a time of 22:21.44. Coming in 22nd, 23rd, and 24th was Zoe Heisdorffer in 23:08.77, Callie Deutschle in 23:13.04, and Harper Guise in 23:27.09. Bree Earnest was 29th in 23:50.00. Hailey Pedrick and Emerson Porter finished 31st and 32nd, respectively, with times of 24:14.38 and 24:45.54. Haven Hensley was 42nd in 26:27.52, Breanna Drish finished 51st in 28:44.06, and Reagan Wise was 52nd in 29:35.33.
Pekin’s high school boys’ team finished third with 69 points. Winning was Mediapolis with 40, Van Buren took second with 63, Keokuk was fourth with 83, and Davis County was fifth with 91.
The Panthers had three runners finish in the top 10 with Cole Millikin taking fourth in 16:20.60, Lane Fariss fifth in 16:42.31, and Mason Dahlstrom seventh in 16:50.59. Brody Sobaski was 30th in 19:30.63 while Landon Fariss finished 31st in 19:37.56. Clayton Harvey finished 35th in 20:05.36 and Conor Cloyd was 47th in 21:05.87. Hayden Miller finished 56th in 21:51.04. Wyatt Brown finished 65th in 23:15.87, Liam Guise was 66th in 23:30.99, and Colton Harvey was 71st in 24:57.00.
Pekin’s junior high girls dominated their race, winning the event with 24 points. Van Buren finished second with 54 and Danville was third with 64.
Pekin took the top three spots with Jude Freese-McCabe winning with a time of 9:10.83, Scout Lock taking second in 9:38.59, and Stella Dickey finishing third in 9:46.05. Eleanora Ferrell also finished in the top 10, taking seventh in 10:34.22. Preslee Hixson finished 11th in 10:55.04 and Gracyn Hervey finished 17th in 11:51.73.
