Panther girls’ team takes first at Clear Creek Amana meet

The Panther girls’ track team took part in the Jane Astor Relays at Clear Creek Amana on Friday, April 5. Pekin was part of the Class B teams competing, finishing first as a team with 168 points. North Linn was second with 115, and HLV, Victor took third with 93.

Pekin had two wins in the field events, with Anna Hadley finishing first in the shot put with a throw of 39’10-1/2” and Kayse Miller jumping 5’3” to win the high jump. Hadley had a second-place finish in the discus with a throw of 128-3” while Brinley Phillips jumped 14’0-1/2” for second in the long jump.

In the relay events, Pekin had three wins. The 4x800 relay team of Audrey Fariss, Alex Parsons, Maddy Petrehn, and Chloe Glosser won in 10:45.59. Pekin’s distance medley team of Lauren Conklin, Renae Eubanks, Audrey Fariss, and Chloe Glosser won with a time of 4:36.04; and the 4x400 relay team made up of Audrey Fariss, Alex Parsons, Maddy Petrehn, and Chloe Glosser won in 4:38.94.

The shuttle hurdle relay team of Abby Guise, Paislee Coleman, Reece Brisby, and Kayse Miller took second place in 1:20.14.

Chloe Glosser won the 1500m run with a time of 5:07.83, and Audrey Fariss finished second in the 800m run in 2:41.56. Lauren Steigleder finished third in the 3000m run with a time of 12:30.54, while Reece Brisby took third in the 100m hurdles in 19.17.
