Panther girls’ wrestling team hit the mat

The Panther girls’ wrestling team faced off against L&M and WACO last Thursday, December 8 at Mediapolis.
L&M 36, Pekin 18
Emma Hopper (125) won by fall in 2:20 over Torie Hansen. Hailey Pedrick (135) won be fall in 1:22 over Breanna Maish. Lila Miller (140) won by fall in 0:20 over Jasmine Negron.
WACO 36, Pekin 12
Pekin had two wins by forfeit, Hailey Pedrick at 135 and Lila Miller at 140.
Pekin took part in the Riverside Girls Wresting Tournament over the weekend.
Lexa Nelson (115A) placed third after losing in round 1 to Quincy Sorensen and in round 3 to Sadie Smith. She got a win by major decision (15-6) over Emma Baldwin in round 2.
Payten Coleman (125A) placed fourth. She lost by fall to Emma Broman in round 2 and by decision in round 3, and to Laura McCarville in round 4 by fall. Coleman won by fall in 2:34 over Bridget Kromminga in round 5.
Emma Hopper (125C) placed second. She lost by fall in round 1, won by fall in 3:27 over Alex Marnell in round 2, and won by fall in 3:28 over Jazmine Orduna in round 3.
Hailey Pedrick (135A) won her division after winning in round 1 over Lillian Kerger by fall in 1:05. Pedrick also won by fall in 1:39 over Ashlynn Boldt in round 2 and won by fall in 0:50 over Jada Heald in round 3.
Lila Miller (140) placed third after losing in round 3 to Clara Sapienza by fall and winning in round 2 over Kailey Blocker by fall in 1:29.
