Panther track teams compete in Battle of the Border Relays

Pekin’s high school track teams competed in the IA/MO Battle of the Border Relays at Davis County last Thursday, March 23.
The girls’ team finished second with 163 points, 24 behind host Davis County. Clark County finished third with 115, Schuyler County was fourth with 108.5, Putnam County was fifth with 80, Centerville was sixth with 24.5, and Green City finished seventh with 4.
The Panther boys’ team finished third with 102 points. Clark County won with 148, and Davis County was second with 129. Putnam County finished with 79 points, Schuyler County was fifth with 49, Centerville took sixth with 39, and Green City was seventh with 35.
Pekin Varsity Girls
In individual running events Pekin had two first place finishes, and three second place finishes. In the 1500-meter run, Chloe Glosser won in 5:12.80 and Lauren Steigleder finished second in 5:39.50. Steigleder won the 3000-meter run with a time of 12:07.96. Renae Eubanks and Kayse Miller finished second and third, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:24.30 and 1:24.96. In the 100-meter hurdles, Eubanks finished second in 20.42 and Payten Coleman took fifth in 22.25.
Pekin had four wins in the relay events. The 4x400 relay team of Audrey Fariss, Claire Roth, Sabrina Reneker, and Chloe Glosser won in a time of 4:25.49. The 4x800 relay team of Audrey Fariss, Brooke Miller, Alex Parsons, and Chloe Glosser won in 10:31.71. The Distance Medley team of Lilly Reneker, Sabrina Reneker, Audrey Fariss, and Brooke Sylvester won with a time of 4:48.14. Brooke Miller, Kayse Miller, Payten Coleman, and Renae Eubanks won the shuttle hurdle with a time of 1:24.47.
Rowen Connelly, Lilly Reneker, Sabrina Reneker, and Claire Roth placed second in the Sprint Medley in 2:03.40. The 4x100 relay team of Abby Guise, Emma Phillips, Renae Eubanks, and Kayse Miller finished third in 59.01; and the 4x200 relay team of Lauren Conklin, Maggie Dickey, Abby Guise, and Claire Roth finished third in 2:04.45.
Kayse Miller took first in the high jump with a jump of 4-08, while Abby Guise finished second with a jump of 4-06. Claire Roth placed third in the long jump with a jump of 14-06.75. Anna Hadley placed second in the shot put with a throw of 34-10.00. In the discus, Anna Hadley finished second with a throw of 102-04, and Emma Phillips finished fifth with a throw of 89-09.
Pekin Varsity Boys
Brady McWhirter won the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:18.00 and placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:13.16. JaeDon Wolver placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 59.70, while Kasey Davis finished eighth in 1:15.15. In the 110-meter hurdles, Davis placed third in 20.13 and Kyler Dickey finished fifth in 21.25.
The 4x400 relay team of Brady McWhirter, Nolan Glick, Will Adam, and JaeDon Wolver won in a time of 3:47.54. Sven Dahlstrom, Kasey Davis, Riley Smith, and Nolan Glick won the Sprint Medley relay in a time of 1:49.78. Will Adam, Robert Brown, Kyler Dickey, and JaeDon Wolver won the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:10.35.
JaeDon Wolver won the high jump with a jump of 5-08, while Riley Smith was sixth with 5-00. Robert Brown finished fourth in the long jump with a jump of 17-03. Caden Bender finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 39-05.00.

Pekin's Brady McWhirter won the 3200-meter run at the Davis County meet last Thursday in a time of 10:18.
