Panther track teams host indoor meet, run at Davis County

The Pekin high school track teams hosted and competed in the indoor track and field meet at Central College in Pella on Thursday, March 14.
The boys’ track team is looking to have a strong season, and they got off to a good start at Pella, winning all eight running events, and finishing strong in the field events as well.
The shuttle hurdle team of Kasey Davis, Robert Brown, Will Adam, and JaeDon Wolver won in 37.29. Cole Millikin, Lane Fariss, Mason Dahlstrom, and Riley Smith won the 4x800 relay in a time of 10.10. The 4x200 relay team of Kasey Davis, Sven Dahlstrom, Nolan Glick, and Robert Brown won in 1:42.88. Henry Adam, Will Adam, Sven Dahlstrom, and Alijah Brock won the shuttle relay in 27.94; and the distance medley team of Mason Dahlstrom, Cole Millikin, Brady McWhirter, and Will Adam won with a time of 12:07. The 4x400 team of Nolan Glick, Brady McWhirter, Sven Dahlstrom, and JaeDon Wolver won in 3:49.55. The California mile relay team of Sven Dahlstrom, Mason Dahlstrom, Cole Millikin, Riley Smith, Alijah Brock, Robert Brown, Brady McWhirter, and Nolan Glick won in 3:31. Kasey Davis won the 60m high hurdles with a time of 8.81.
In the field events, JaeDon Wolver placed second in the high jump with a jump of 5-06; while Will Adam placed second in the long jump with a jump of 18-03.5 and Henry Adam finished fourth with a jump of 17-06.5. Caden Bender placed third in the shot with a throw of 40-03, and Alton Williams was sixth with a throw of 36-10.25.
The Pekin girls’ team finished the evening with three first place finishes. Anna Hadley took first in the shot put with a throw of 37-09.50. The 4x800 relay team of Audrey Fariss, Alex Parsons, Lauren Steigleder, and Chloe Glosser won with a time of 10:45; the distance medley team made up of the same four runners also took first with a time of 14:15.
Pekin’s second place finishes came from Abby Guise in the 60m low hurdles, she finished with a time of 10.04, and Kayse Miller in the high jump, she had a jump of 5-01. Also taking second was the 4x400 relay team of Maddy Petrehn, Bree Earnest, Renae Eubanks, and Lexi Swearingen with a time of 5:00.48; and the California mile team of Lauren Conklin, Audrey Fariss, Krysta Sheets, Paislee Coleman, Hailey Pedrick, Alex Parsons, Maddy Petrehn, and Kayse Miller placed second in 4:08.
Lauren Conklin, Renae Eubanks, Krysta Sheets, and Lexi Swearingen finished third in the 4x200 relay in 2:04.
Davis County Battle of the Border
The Panther teams traveled to Bloomfield last Thursday, March 21 to compete in Davis County’s IA-MO Battle of the Border Coed meet. On the girls’ side, Pekin finished second with 176 points, while host Davis County won with 214. Clark County finished third with 110. For the boys’ teams, Clark County won with 187, Davis County was second with 139, and Pekin finished a close third with 137.
In individual running events, the Panther girls had two wins with Audrey Fariss winning the 800m run with a time of 2:39.03 and Chloe Glosser taking the win in the 2500m run in 5:12.89. Abby Guise finished third in the 100m hurdles in 18.74, and Brinley Phillips took third in the 400m hurdles in 1:20.18.
Pekin had three wins in the relay events. The 4x800 relay team of Audrey Fariss, Maddy Petrehn, Alex Parsons, and Chloe Glosser won in 10:44.48. Lauren Conklin, Krysta Sheetz, Maddy Petrehn, and Alex Parsons won the Distance Medley in 4:58.29. The Shuttle Hurdle team of Abby Guise, Paislee Coleman, Reece Brisby, and Kayse Miller won in 1:17.02.
The 4x100 relay team of Lauren Conklin, Krysta Sheetz, Paislee Coleman, and Kayse Miller finished second in 56.79. Hailey Pedrick, Brinley Philips, Reece Brisby, and Renae Eubanks finished second in the 4x200 relay in 2:07.33; and the 800 Sprint Medley team of Krysta Sheetz, Hailey Pedrick, Lauren Conklin, and Renae Eubanks took second in 2:07.78.
The Panthers won three of the four field events, with Kayse Miller winning the high jump with a jump of 5-00, and Anna Hadley winning both the shot put (38-02.5) and discus (140-09). Grace Phillips finished third in the discus with a throw of 93-08 and Haylea Oostra took third in the shot put with 29-05.
The Panther boys’ team had three wins in the individual running events. Brady McWhirter won the 3200m run in a time of 10:07.38, Kasey Davis won the 110m hurdles in 15.98, and JaeDon Wolver won the 400m hurdles in 58.75. Cole Millikin finished third in the 1600m run in 5:09.77, and Riley Smith finished third in the 400m hurdles in 1:05.38.
Pekin had three wins in the relays also. Kasey Davis, Robert Brown, Will Adam, and JaeDon Wolver won the shuttle hurdle in a time of 1:05.12. The 4x800 relay team of Cole Millikin, Riley Smith, Lane Fariss, and Mason Dahlstrom won in 9:22.69; and the Pekin throwers relay team won in 54.80. The 4x400 relay team of Nolan Glick, Brady McWhirter, JaeDon Wolver, and Sven Dahlstrom finished second in 3:43.25. The Panthers finished second in both medley relays, with Henry Adam, Kasey Davis, Sven Dahlstrom, and Nolan Glick getting second in the sprint medley in 1:42.87; and Henry Adam, Alijah Brock, Robert Brown, and Mason Dahlstrom finishing second in the distance medley in 4:02.28.
Pekin had two wins in the field events, JaeDon Wolver won the high jump with a jump of 5-10 and Will Adam won the long jump with a jump of 19-08.5. Isaac Sylvester finished third in the discus with a throw of 120-05.
