Panther track teams open season at Pella indoor meet

The Pekin track teams got their seasons started with the annual indoor meet at Central College in Pella on Thursday, March 13.

The girls’ varsity team took first in two of the three field events, with Anna Hadley winning the shot with a throw of 38-11.75 and Kayse Miller winning the high jump with a jump of 5-00. In the long jump, Carlie Gambell took second with a jump of 15-07 while Paislee Coleman was third with 15-06.

Pekin’s 4x8 team of Chloe Glosser, Maddy Petrehn, Renae Eubanks, and Callie Deutschle won with a time of 11:20. The 4x2 team of Reece Brisby, Paislee Coleman, Kayse Miller, and Carlie Gambell finished second in 2:04; and the shuttle hurdle team of Reece Brisby, Paislee Coleman, Kayse Miller, and Carlie Gambell won in 41.59. The shuttle relay team of Addison Smith, Ava Owens, Cambree Earnest, and Paislee Coleman took second in 34.75. Pekin’s Maddy Petrehn, Renae Eubanks, Cambree Earnest, and Chloe Glosser won the distance medley relay 14:28.62; and Maddy Petrehn, Chloe Glosser, Cambree Earnest, and Renae Eubanks won the 4x4 relay in 4:52.52. The California mile team of Addison Smith, Brinley Phillips, Ava Owens, Bree Drish, Ava Gillam, Harper Guise, Zoey Atkinson, and Ryleigh Garr placed third in 4:31.75. Reece Brisby won the 60m hurdles in 10.43.

The Panther boys’ varsity team also had two wins in the field events, with Caden Bender winning the shot put with a throw of 45-02.75 and Will Adam winning the long jump with a jump of 19-10.5. Brody Sobaski placed second in the high jump with a jump of 5-06. Alton Williams finished third in the shot put with a throw of 38-11.25 and Alijah Brock finished second in the long jump with a jump of 19-06.

Pekin’s 4x8 team of Mason Dahlstrom, Lane Fariss, Landon Crow and Cole Millikin won with a time of 9:15.00. Will Adam, Robert Brown, Kasey Davis, and Alijah Brock won the shuttle hurdle event in 37.59; and the shuttle relay team of Henry Adam, Kasey Davis, Riley Smith, and Nolan Glick won in 29.81. The 4x4 team of Will Adam, Riley Smith, Mason Dahlstrom, and Nolan Glick won in 3:44.67; and the 4x2 relay team of Henry Adam, Robert Brown, Riley Smith, and Nolan Glick finished second in 1:40.78. Pekin’s Lane Fariss, Mason Dahlstrom, Landon Crow, and Cole Millikin won the distance medley with a time of 12:12.00. The California team made up of Lane Fariss, Robert Brown, Landon Crow, Cody Silvers, Cael Silvers, Will Daniels, Henry Adam, and Brody Sobaski placed second with a time of 3:38.71. Kasey Davis won the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.44.
