Panthers compete at state group speech

Pekin had two large-group entries compete in the state competition this past Saturday in Bettendorf.
The musical theatre group of Alisia Brock and Izabella Earnest performed Freedom from “The Mad Ones.” They received two Division I ratings and one Division II rating from the judges for an overall Division I rating.
The group improv group of Will Daniels, Bo Latcham, and Hayden Miller received two Division II ratings and one Division I rating for their performance, earning them a Division II rating overall.
Practices are underway at Pekin for the District Individual Speech contest, which will be held Saturday, February 24. The State Individual contest will follow on Saturday, March 9.
Everyone is invited to come to Pekin on Saturday, March 23 to enjoy a dessert bar and watch the group and individual speech performances beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is $10/adult, $5/children ages 3-12, and free/children under two. This is the annual fundraiser for the Pekin Performing Arts.
